This marks the first time the company has exceeded ₩10 trillion in first-half revenue. Operating profit surged 296.4% to ₩541.1 billion (approximately $381.8 million), compared with ₩136.5 billion (approximately $96.3 million) in the year-earlier period.

A single customer stood at the center of the earnings growth. Revenue from a single customer accounting for more than 10% of first-half sales totaled ₩8.84 trillion (approximately $6.2 billion). That represents an increase of roughly ₩2 trillion, or 28.0%, from ₩6.9 trillion (approximately $4.9 billion) in the first half of last year. The customer was not named in the filing, but industry observers identify it as Apple, LG Innotek’s largest client. LG Innotek supplies key components such as camera modules and semiconductor substrates for the iPhone.

That customer accounted for 77.9% of total revenue. The top 10 customers by sales represented 86% of revenue. The structure of revenue concentration in specific customers and specific products is becoming increasingly pronounced as performance improves.

The optical solutions business led the earnings improvement. First-half optical solutions revenue reached ₩9.13 trillion (approximately $6.4 billion), accounting for 82.5% of total revenue, with operating profit of ₩409.9 billion (approximately $289.3 million). The company attributed the improvement to strong sales at its major customer and expanded adoption of high-specification camera modules.

Production facility utilization rates rose broadly on expanding demand. The average utilization rate at camera module production facilities in Gumi, China, and Vietnam reached 85.2% in the first half, up 3.5 percentage points from 81.7% for all of last year. First-half camera module production volume came to 241.74 million units.

The increase in utilization at semiconductor substrate production facilities was even larger. The utilization rate at the Gumi semiconductor substrate facility climbed 13.2 percentage points to 94.0% in the first half, from 80.8% last year. Photomask production facilities also recorded a 94.4% utilization rate. Tape substrate stood at 66.7%, motors and sensors at 61.5%, and vehicle communications at 72.7%.

Raw material prices trended upward. Average image sensor prices rose 4.1% from last year in the first half, while CCL and PP increased 10.1%, and IC prices climbed 10.1%.

Research and development investment for future businesses also expanded. First-half R&D expenses totaled ₩407.3 billion (approximately $287.4 million), representing 3.7% of revenue. That is 0.2 percentage points higher than last year’s full-year R&D-to-revenue ratio of 3.5%. The company is developing technologies in optics, substrates and materials, and automotive electronics components, as well as robotics, mobility, and artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, LG Innotek CEO and President Moon Hyuk-soo received ₩1.297 billion (approximately $915,000) in first-half compensation. The amount includes ₩726 million in salary and ₩562 million in bonuses, up ₩469 million from ₩828 million in the same period last year. The company said it factored in last year’s revenue growth, strengthened optical solutions competitiveness, semiconductor substrate business development, and enhanced automotive electronics competitiveness in determining the bonus.

Average employee pay on a semi-annual basis came to ₩54 million (approximately $38,100), up ₩6 million from ₩48 million a year earlier. The workforce totaled 12,057 employees, down 287 from 12,344 at the end of the first half of last year.

LG Innotek surpassed ₩11 trillion in revenue for the first time in a first half this year, but…

[25
3628,19627,34151,315,314,9450,52650,30295,20466
post-119716","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-lg","tag-apple","tag-camera-module","tag-gumi-plant","tag-lg","tag-lg-group","tag-lg-innotek","tag-moon-hyuk-soo","tag-optical-solutions","tag-semiconductor-substrate
["GET
