The 2028 Hyundai Kona has been spied<\/a> undergoing testing in Europe.<\/p>\n Redesigned model grows up and adopts a more traditional SUV shape.<\/p>\n Crossover will likely mirror the Seltos and offer 1.6-liter engines.<\/p>\n The redesigned Kona<\/a> is inching closer to production and spy photographers recently snapped a prototype undergoing hot weather testing in Spain. It\u2019s dressed in heavy camouflage, but hides a radical rethink.<\/p>\n This is clearly visible despite the disguise as the Kona morphs into a traditional crossover rather than a lifted hatchback. It\u2019s also worth noting the model appears to have a lot in common with the 2027 Kia Seltos<\/a>.<\/p>\n More: Hyundai\u2019s New Kona Looks So Much Like An Ioniq You\u2019d Think It Went Electric<\/a><\/p>\n While camouflage hides most of the details, an image of an undisguised Kona recently surfaced online. There\u2019s been some debate about its authenticity, but the model will adopt a shark nose front end with a protruding upper light bar.<\/p>\n Further below, there are mid-mounted headlights and what appear to be active intakes with angular doors. They\u2019re joined by air curtains as well as a black plastic lower bumper, which sports a prominent lip.<\/p>\n Moving further back, there\u2019s a rakish windscreen and a sloping roof. They\u2019re accompanied by a relatively compact greenhouse and an upward sweeping beltline. We can also get a glimpse of pronounced wheel arches and aerodynamically optimized wheels.<\/p>\n SHProshots<\/p>\n The rear end is harder to decipher, but we can see mid-mounted taillights peeking through the mesh disguise. A closer inspection reveals a wider liftgate and a single exhaust tip hiding below the bumper.<\/p>\n Spy photographers haven\u2019t gotten a good look inside, but we can expect the model to follow in the footsteps of recent additions such as the Grandeur and Elantra<\/a>. This means the crossover could be offered with a 12.9- and 14.6-inch Pleos Connect infotainment system.<\/p>\n
