\nPresident Lee Jae Myung said over the August 17 Democratic Party of Korea National Convention, “We have been fiercely discussing and competing, but we have to unite again with the new leadership starting today.” It is a message that emphasizes harmony and unity within the party beyond the so-called “Myeongcheong conflict.”<\/p>\n
On the 17th, President Lee sent a video congratulatory message to the Democratic Party’s national convention held at the Daejeon Convention Center, saying, “Our Democratic Party was the strongest when it was one.”\n<\/p>\n
“The Democratic Party has steadily grown into a stronger Democratic Party based on the dedication of its members and the trust of the people at every moment of many crises,” President Lee said. “We will continue to move forward as a stronger and more competent party to lead Korea’s growth and leap forward because we have our own desperate desire for a better country.”\n<\/p>\n
Cheong Wa Dae has also been paying keen attention to the national convention. \nThe Myungcheong conflict continued throughout the convention. Competition among the party leaders as well as the supreme council members has also led to conflicts between factions such as pro-Cheong and pro-Myeong. As a result, some analysts said that the approval ratings of the president and the ruling party were struggling. Realmeter announced the results of a poll of 2,511 voters aged 18 or older nationwide from the 10th to the 14th at the request of the Energy Economy Newspaper, and President Lee’s approval rating was 43%, down 0.3 percentage points from last week. The “low since inauguration” has been renewed as it has continued to decline for five consecutive weeks. During the same period, negative evaluation rose 1.1 percentage points to 54.1%.<\/p>\n
