The energy storage solutions will use LFP cells.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">This facility will employ up to 1,700 people and produce up to 35 GWh worth of cells per year.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">LG Energy Solutions announced today that it has officially started production of EV batteries in its new facility in Lansing, Michigan. This 226-acre plant will be instrumental in providing EV battery cells and modules to key products from some well-known car brands.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">The 226-acre facility has had more than $2 billion of investment, and currently employs 900 people. At maximum capacity, this facility will employ 1,700 people and produce up to 35 GWh of production per year.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">LG says that this factory will serve a pivotal role in Michigan&#8217;s manufacturing capabilities, producing cells and large-scale battery storage solutions for different brands.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">One of the most notable clients for this factory is Toyota. LG will produce nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) lithium battery modules for the upcoming all-electric three-row <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/786882\/2027-toyota-highlander-ev-suv-specs-charging\/?utm_campaign=yahoo-feed\" data-ylk=\"slk:Toyota%20Highlander;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;source:content-canvas%20default\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Toyota Highlander&quot;,&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yTrafficOrigin&quot;:&quot;content-canvas default&quot;}\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Toyota Highlander<\/a>. LG Energy Solutions plans to have 50 GWh of battery production capacity all over North America. This includes not just the Lansing plant but also LG&#8217;s other plant in Holland, Michigan and a Nextar Energy plant in Windsor, Ontario.
