U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signaled that Washington remains open to dialogue with Pyongyang, saying the U.S. is prepared to listen to views expressed by North Korean officials.<\/p>\n

According to a transcript of Rubio\u2019s press conference published by the U.S. State Department, he indicated that the door to dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang remains open.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether it\u2019s someone in Cuba, or one day someone in North Korea, or someone in Iran right now, we are always willing to listen. That\u2019s different from a negotiation, of course, but we are prepared to hear the views that are expressed,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n

He added that the U.S. is ready to speak with officials from any government that wishes to share information and perspectives. \u201cIt is my job to do so,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kim says future ties depend on US stance<\/p>\n

U.S. media reported that Rubio\u2019s remarks could signal a possible effort by Washington to resume dialogue with North Korea.<\/p>\n

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and Kim met three times: in Singapore in June 2018, in Hanoi in February 2019, and in June 2019 at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom.<\/p>\n
