The event, which provides stocks worth 50,000 won (approximately $36) per person and up to 100,000 won (approximately $72) per household to couples who registered their marriage this year, saw 37% of applicants without an existing Kakao Pay Securities account, confirming its effectiveness in attracting new customers.

According to Kakao Pay Securities on the 19th, marriage verification participants in the “2026 South Korea: A Country Where You Receive Stocks When You Marry” campaign exceeded 30,000 in the first week of this month—roughly two weeks after the campaign began on the 22nd of last month. Participation surpassed 15,000 within five days of launch and reached 20,000 in under ten days, growing at a rapid pace.

The campaign was designed to blend stocks into South Korea’s traditionally cash-centric wedding gift culture, celebrating marriage as a new beginning while supporting couples in building assets together. Kakao Pay Securities noted that a significant portion of participants were concentrated in the 20s and 30s demographic, which has strong demand for wealth accumulation.

By age group, those in their 30s accounted for the largest share at 71.7%, followed by those in their 20s at 23.9% and those in their 40s at 4.2%. While participants spanned ages from their 20s to 60s, the fact that 37% of applicants did not hold a Kakao Pay Securities account is particularly noteworthy. This indicates the campaign is expanding beyond existing customers to reach first-time investors who are starting their investment journey through the occasion of marriage.

Shin Ho-chul, CEO of Kakao Pay Securities, personally met the 30,000th marriage verification customer on the 12th and presented a 1-don (3.75g) gold bar along with congratulations. The 30,000th participants were a couple in their 30s residing in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, who registered their marriage in March. “Receiving wedding gifts in the form of stocks was already a unique experience, and the added fortune of being the 30,000th participant makes it even more meaningful,” they said. “We hadn’t even considered investing while setting up our new home, but the stocks we received have become our first seed money as a couple.”

Expanding ‘Stock Gifts’ to Every Life Milestone

Kakao Pay Securities plans to sequentially roll out campaigns celebrating major life transitions—such as childbirth and employment—with stocks, following the marriage campaign. “Creating a culture of expressing congratulations through stocks, just as people send birthday wishes on KakaoTalk, is something Kakao Pay Securities is best positioned to do,” said CEO Shin. “We will continue to focus on realizing finance that gifts the future.”

The deadline for campaign applications and marriage verification document submission is January 10 next year. Applicants can submit a marriage certificate obtained through KakaoTalk Wallet without opening a separate account. Details are available in the “Securities” section under the “Events” menu at the bottom of the Kakao Pay app.

Lowering Entry Barriers with Fractional Share Trading

Kakao Pay Securities recently launched fractional share trading for South Korean listed stocks, allowing investments starting from 1,000 won (approximately $0.72). By reducing the minimum trading unit for South Korean listed stocks to 0.0001 shares, investors can now purchase high-priced stocks with small amounts. Currently, three stocks are available for trading: Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), SK Hynix (000660.KS), and EcoPro (086520.KQ).

The introduction of fractional share trading was implemented to support new customers brought in through the campaign, enabling them to begin investing without financial burden. The strategy is interpreted as creating an environment where newlywed couples who had their first investment experience through stock wedding gifts can continue building investment habits with small amounts.

Kakao Pay Securities’ campaign demonstrates that competition for customer acquisition in South Korea’s financial sector is expanding beyond simple interest rate benefits or cash payouts into the realm of “experience” and “culture.” In particular, the seamless integration of the marriage registration administrative process with stock distribution through the everyday KakaoTalk platform has been credited with resonating strongly with the 20s and 30s demographic.

Kakao Pay Securities’ “stock wedding gift” campaign—which celebrates marriages by gifting South Korean stocks—has surpassed 30,000 marriage verification…

[622
37620,58887,827,9277,38974,276,15160,275,64587
post-125170","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-kakao","tag-ecopro","tag-fractional-share-trading","tag-kakao","tag-kakao-pay-securities","tag-kakaotalk-wallet","tag-samsung-electronics","tag-shin-ho-chul","tag-sk-hynix","tag-stock-wedding-gift-campaign
["GET
