Aug 20 (Reuters) – North Korea’s Kim Yo Jong, sister of leader Kim \u200cJong Un, on Thursday said South Korean President \u200cLee Jae Myung’s reaction to the U.S. move to reduce joint drills \u200bwere “double-dealing remarks” that showed uneasiness and impatience, KCNA reported.<\/p>\n
South Korean president Lee Jae Myung said on his X account on Wednesday that he recognized Trump’s “will and efforts to create \u200cconditions for dialogue” with \u2060North Korea through the reduction of the exercise.<\/p>\n
Military drills by South Korea and the U.S. \u2060were cut short to end on Friday after President Donald Trump ordered a substantial reduction in U.S. participation and said \u200bhe wanted \u200bto revive diplomacy with \u200bNorth Korean leader Kim Jong \u200cUn.<\/p>\n
“President Trump’s message this time feels like a major decision made with careful consideration to create peace on the Korean Peninsula, moving beyond hostility and confrontation,” Lee said on his X post.<\/p>\n
Kim Yo Jong on Thursday called South \u200cKorea’s description of the drills \u200breduction “nothing but a lame excuse”.<\/p>\n
Trump said \u200bon Monday he had \u200breceived a response from North Korean leader \u200cKim Jong Un after the \u200bdrills reduction. But \u200bKim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, said on Wednesday she was unaware of any recent communications between the two \u200bcountries’ leaders, \u200cwhile saying the United States’ “hostile policy” towards North Korea \u200bhad not changed.<\/p>\n
