LG Electronics announced on the 25th that it will offer more than 100 masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York through its art content service “LG Gallery+,” built on the company’s proprietary webOS smart TV platform.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is New York’s largest museum, attracting over 7 million visitors annually, with a collection of approximately 2 million works including masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas.<\/p>\n
Through this collaboration, renowned paintings such as \u00c9douard Manet’s “The Monet Family in Their Garden at Argenteuil,” William Merritt Chase’s “At the Seaside,” and Severin Roesen’s “Still Life with Flowers and Fruit” will be added to LG Gallery+. Users can now enjoy world-class masterpieces at home without having to visit New York in person.<\/p>\n
LG Electronics has previously collaborated with major museums worldwide, including The National Gallery in London and South Korea’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and has also partnered with the art platform Saatchi Art. Through these partnerships, the company offers more than 5,000 art content pieces ranging from classic masterpieces to game illustrations, movie posters, and nature photography.<\/p>\n
On the hardware side, LG offers a tailored art TV lineup including the “LG OLED Evo AI G6,” the wallpaper TV “LG SIGNATURE OLED W,” and the frame-style “LG Gallery TV AI.” Purchasers of these products receive a three-month free subscription to LG Gallery+.<\/p>\n
Cho Byung-ha, senior vice president and head of the webOS Platform Business Center at LG Electronics’ MS Business Division, said, “We will strengthen our art content so that customers can use LG TVs as digital canvases to enjoy content they love, from art to games, and complete their own interior spaces.”<\/p>\n
LG Electronics plans to continue expanding its content ecosystem through collaborations with various partners so that TVs can serve as sophisticated digital canvases in the home.
