Republicans unsurprisingly are all on board with the selection of state Sen. Bryan \u00c1vila<\/a> as the running mate for gubernatorial nominee\u00a0Byron Donalds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Donalds made the announcement at the Freedom Tower in South Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cSenator Avila is a good dude. I\u2019ve always appreciated his service in the National Guard,\u201d said Gov.\u00a0Ron DeSantis<\/a>, in the latest signal that the GOP has come together ahead of the General Election 10 weeks away.<\/p>\n

\u00c1vila, who has been in the Guard for nine years and is currently a Captain, carried priority bills to the Governor, including the \u201cStop WOKE Act<\/a>\u201d in 2022, and data center legislation<\/a> this year to shield ratepayers from utility costs.<\/p>\n

DeSantis endorsed \u00c1vila for the Senate to fill an opening left when the Governor picked Manny Diaz to be Education Commissioner.<\/p>\n

Other Republicans are also enthusiastic.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat pick,\u201d said U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, who has been a regular presence with Donalds on the trail for months.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep.\u00a0Kat Cammack<\/a>, who had been considered as Donalds\u2019 running mate in a move that could have reassured rural voters who went elsewhere in the Primary, praised the \u201cstrong Florida ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBryan\u2019s family fled communist Cuba in search of freedom, and his life has been defined by service to the country that gave them a new beginning. The Donalds-Avila ticket is ready to defend the Florida Dream and keep the Free State of Florida leading America,\u201d the North Florida Congresswoman said.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Jimmy Patronis<\/a> hailed \u00c1vila as a \u201cstrong conservative fighter who will defend the Florida Dream, protect our freedoms, and keep Florida the greatest state in America!\u201d<\/p>\n

CFO\u00a0Blaise Ingoglia also was excited: Bryan Avila is a fighter who understands what it takes to deliver results for Florida.\u00a0\u00a0His record of leadership and his experience serving the people of Florida make him an excellent choice to join Byron Donalds on the ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida Senate President Ben Albritton called \u00c1vila an \u201cincredible choice \u2026 a trusted Senator, a great Floridian and an exceptional human being!\u201d<\/p>\n

State Rep. Danny Nix said \u00c1vila \u201cbrings legislative experience, military service and a proven conservative record to the table\u201d and that \u201cDonalds-Avila is a powerhouse ticket built to keep Florida strong, prosperous and FREE!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats around the country are embracing democratic socialism. Florida is choosing a different path. Donalds and Avila believe in freedom, opportunity, security and the American Dream. That\u2019s the choice. That\u2019s the future,\u201d said state Rep. Toby Overdorf.<\/p>\n

State Rep.\u00a0Meg Weinberger<\/a>, who was on the LG shortlist, called \u00c1vila an \u201cincredible choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida GOP Chair\u00a0Evan Power said \u201cBryan\u2019s story is Florida\u2019s story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former state legislator and current Pinellas County Commissioner\u00a0Chris Latvala<\/a> said \u00c1vila was an \u201cexcellent choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Lt. Gov.\u00a0Carlos Lopez-Cantera\u00a0is also on board with the \u201cgreat choice,\u201d saying he\u2019s known \u00c1vila \u201csince he was a candidate to succeed me in the Florida House and I look forward to him being a successor as LG.\u201d<\/p>\n
