Nvidia also projected 70% revenue growth and said sales could increase further if supply expands, fueling expectations for memory demand including high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, and DRAM.

As of 9:07 a.m. on Aug. 27, Samsung Electronics was up 3.25% at 269,750 won, while SK Hynix climbed 5.81% to 1,786,000 won. Samsung Electronics preferred shares rose 1.18% to 201,000 won, SK Square gained 3.78% to 1,102,000 won, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics added 3.46% to 137,600 won.

The rally followed Nvidia’s Aug. 26 filing showing second-quarter revenue for the May-to-July fiscal period rose 106% from a year earlier to $96.22 billion. That topped the $92.17 billion market forecast compiled by LSEG by more than $4 billion. Nvidia also extended its streak of record quarterly revenue to 13 straight quarters. With sales more than doubling from a year earlier, the results reinforced the view that enthusiasm for AI infrastructure investment remains intact.

Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said AI had reached an inflection point. “Tokens are productive and profitable, and now compute has become revenue,” he said. A year ago, only one AI lab was leading the push to expand infrastructure, Huang said, but the market has since entered a golden age marked by a surge of new labs and startups. He added that Vera Rubin, now moving into full-scale production, was built for this moment.

By segment, the data-center business, which includes AI chip sales, posted revenue of $89 billion. That was up 117% from a year earlier and 18% from the previous quarter, accounting for 92% of total sales. Revenue from hyperscalers, which operate large-scale data centers, doubled to $48.7 billion from $24.2 billion a year earlier. Revenue from cloud companies and enterprises excluding hyperscalers jumped to $40.3 billion from $16.9 billion, suggesting Nvidia’s customer base is becoming more diversified.

The edge computing division, which includes chips for PCs, game consoles and vehicles, posted revenue of $7.2 billion, up 27% from a year earlier. Earnings per share came in at $2.22, above Wall Street expectations of $2.10. Gross margin was 75%, while operating margin stood at 66.5%. Nvidia said the strength would continue into the third fiscal quarter and guided for revenue of $108 billion, above analysts’ forecasts of $104 billion.

After closing down 1.59% in New York on caution ahead of the earnings release, Nvidia was up more than 4% in after-hours trading. Other semiconductor stocks also advanced, including Micron Technology Inc., up 3.76%, and SK Hynix’s American depositary receipts, up 4.36%.

Seo Sang-young, an executive director at Mirae Asset Securities, said the 70% growth outlook for fiscal 2028 revenue was based on currently available supply rather than actual customer demand. Growth could be higher if Nvidia secures additional supply, he said. In other words, demand is running above 70%, but the company presented 70% guidance after factoring in supply constraints.

Seo also said the stock gains widened after news that Amazon Web Services had signed a partnership to add 2 million Nvidia graphics processing units by fiscal 2029, including next-generation Vera central processing units.

Han Ji-young, an analyst at Kiwoom Securities, said third-quarter gross profit margin guidance of 74.0% was slightly below the 75.0% consensus. Even so, he said investors should pay attention to Nvidia’s conference call, where the company presented 70.0% revenue growth guidance for fiscal 2028.

Nvidia’s results improve visibility on memory demand for products such as HBM and DRAM and strengthen memory makers’ pricing power, Han said. That should help improve investor sentiment toward semiconductor shares, which had recently been under pressure.

Kang Kyung-joo, Hankyung.com reporter qurasoha@hankyung.com

Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and other South Korean semiconductor stocks rose after Nvidia posted an earnings surprise and…

[20
530,524,534,522,523,529,528,526,525,527,533,531,241,275,532
post-133407","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sk-hynix","tag-bitcoin","tag-bitcoincommunity","tag-blockchain","tag-bloomingbit","tag-coincommunity","tag-coininfo","tag-coininvest","tag-coinnews","tag-coinreview","tag-coinstats","tag-cryptocurrency","tag-ethereum","tag-sk","tag-sk-hynix","tag-solana
["GET
