SEVENTEEN<\/a> fans know him already as DINO, but now, he\u2019s reintroducing himself. The K-pop star announced Monday (May 11) that he is making his debut as alter ego Picheolin, with his very first solo mini album set to drop this summer under the new moniker.<\/p>\n

Titled \u5409BOARD \u2014 or \u201cGilboard\u201d \u2014 the set\u2019s name is derived from 1990s Korean street music culture, according to the press release. The term is described as a \u201cwitty take\u201d on Billboard\u2018s charts that \u201creferred to unofficial street music charts and cassette compilations at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy combining the homophone \u2018\u5409\u2019 (Gil), meaning \u2018good fortune,\u2019 with the English word \u2018BOARD,\u2019 the album encapsulates Picheolin\u2019s ambition to turn the streets into his stage, spreading joy and prosperity to all through his music,\u201d the release noted.<\/p>\n

\u5409BOARD will arrive on Aug. 3. To give fans a first look at the world he\u2019s creating as Picheolin, DINO also shared an album trailer on Monday. The chaotic visual shows him as Picheolin \u2014 a \u201ccharismatic CEO and joyful producer of the fictional agency BOMG,\u201d the release stated \u2014 across different eras in human history, closing out with his modern-day incarnation dressed in a snappy blue suit and fedora.<\/p>\n

At the end of the teaser, fans can see the title artwork for \u5409BOARD, with the style of lettering drawing inspiration from Billboard\u2018s logo<\/a>. <\/p>\n

DINO has released a couple of solo singles in the past, dropping \u201cIcarus\u201d in 2023 for the television series Castaway Diva. That same year, he released his track \u201cWait.\u201d<\/p>\n

SEVENTEEN\u2019s most recent release was single \u201cTiny Light\u201d in February. Last year, the group \u2014 which is also comprised of JOSHUA, MINGYU, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8 and DK \u2014 topped Billboard\u2018s Top Album Sales<\/a> chart with fifth album Happy Burstday. The band is currently gearing up to greet fans at a SEVENTEEN fan event in Incheon, Korea, this June.<\/p>\n
