WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 (Yonhap) — U.S. President Donald Trump made two trades in Coupang Inc. shares in June through his money managers, a financial disclosure report showed Friday, amid lingering tensions between Seoul and Washington over South Korea’s regulatory response to a massive data breach involving the U.S.-listed e-commerce giant.<\/p>\n

Released on Aug. 22, the report filed with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics showed that Trump sold Coupang shares worth between US$1,001 and $15,000 on June 3, and purchased shares worth between $15,001 and $50,000 on June 24. <\/p>\n

The report came after Trump’s earlier financial reports this year showed that he made 18 trades in Coupang shares from Oct. 9 to May 22 through two investment accounts.<\/p>\n

His stock transactions drew attention as U.S. criticism has risen over South Korean authorities’ handling of the Coupang data breach.<\/p>\n

In July, the House Judiciary Committee issued an interim staff report accusing the South Korean government of “discriminatory attacks” against Coupang and other American-owned businesses, claiming that Coupang has been a “consistent target.”<\/p>\n

Following the committee report, a White House official said Coupang was being “singled out” by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s administration, expressing concern over what the official called the “discriminatory” targeting of the company.<\/p>\n
