Samsung has unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup at Gamescom 2026, and apparently 1,000Hz just wasn\u2019t quite enough.<\/p>\n

Leading the charge is the new Odyssey G6, Samsung\u2019s first gaming monitor capable of reaching an extraordinary 1,100Hz refresh rate, while the OLED side of the family gains new 49-inch, 42-inch and 32-inch options.<\/p>\n

The new lineup spans everything from ultra-high-refresh competitive gaming through to massive curved OLED displays aimed at RPGs and more cinematic gaming experiences.<\/p>\n

Samsung is also expanding its HDR10+ GAMING ecosystem, with support planned for more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027, including *Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4*.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlayers come to Gamescom to discover what is next, try new games, and experience the technology they need to stay focused and compete at their best,\u201d said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith new form factors, higher refresh rates, and advanced display technologies, the 2027 Odyssey lineup gives players more choice across competitive play, cinematic games, and multi-purpose setups.\u201c<\/p>\n

Odyssey G6 Pushes Refresh Rates to 1,100Hz<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with the number that is inevitably going to attract attention.<\/p>\n

The 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) is Samsung\u2019s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor, designed primarily for competitive FPS players where speed and motion clarity take priority over outright resolution.<\/p>\n

It builds on the model Samsung first showed at CES 2026, but arrives with an upgraded final specification.<\/p>\n

Using Dual Mode, the G6 can operate at up to 1,100Hz in HD, or players can switch to QHD at up to 600Hz when they want greater image detail.<\/p>\n

It uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1ms response time.<\/p>\n

There is obviously going to be a conversation around just how many gamers \u2014 and gaming PCs \u2014 can actually make meaningful use of 1,100Hz. But as a demonstration of just how far high-refresh gaming displays have moved, it is an extraordinary number.<\/p>\n

\"Samsung<\/a><\/p>\n

Odyssey OLED G9 Brings 360Hz to 49-Inch DQHD<\/p>\n

For gamers who prefer considerably more screen real estate, Samsung has the new Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ).<\/p>\n

It is Samsung\u2019s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate, combining a huge ultrawide display with the sort of refresh rate previously associated with considerably smaller competitive gaming monitors.<\/p>\n

The fifth-generation QD-OLED panel uses Penta Tandem technology and offers 5120 x 1440 Dual QHD resolution, a 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time.<\/p>\n

Dual Mode then takes things considerably further.<\/p>\n

Players can run the G9 at its native DQHD resolution at 360Hz, or switch to 2560 x 720 Dual HD at up to 720Hz when outright speed becomes the priority.<\/p>\n

That gives the G9 an unusual combination of ultrawide immersion and extremely high refresh rates without locking players into one or the other.<\/p>\n

Odyssey OLED G8 Offers Three Resolution and Refresh Rate Modes<\/p>\n

The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ)\u00a0takes a slightly different approach, combining 4K QD-OLED picture quality with three resolution and refresh rate combinations.<\/p>\n

Its Triple Mode allows players to choose between:<\/p>\n

UHD at 360Hz
\nQHD at 520Hz
\nFHD at 680Hz<\/p>\n

That means players can prioritise resolution for visually demanding games, then drop the resolution and increase the refresh rate when speed matters more.<\/p>\n

Like the G9, it uses Samsung\u2019s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology, while RGB Stripe subpixels are used for image reproduction.<\/p>\n

Samsung Glare Free technology uses a film the company says is 54% less glossy than its conventional anti-reflection film, helping reduce reflections when gaming in brighter environments.<\/p>\n

The G8 also delivers a 0.03ms GtG response time and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, alongside AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support.<\/p>\n

Connectivity is particularly comprehensive, with DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, two HDMI ports and USB-C with up to 98W Power Delivery. There is also a two-port downstream USB hub and built-in KVM support, making the G8 potentially useful beyond a dedicated gaming setup.<\/p>\n

Odyssey OLED G7 Goes Big \u2014 and Curved<\/p>\n

Then there is the rather sizeable Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ).<\/p>\n

Samsung describes it as its first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor, combining a 1000R curvature with 4K OLED picture quality.<\/p>\n

The G7 runs at up to 165Hz, with a 0.03ms GtG response time.<\/p>\n

Its 1,000mm-radius curve brings the edges of that enormous 42-inch panel closer to the player\u2019s line of sight, with Samsung positioning it particularly towards RPG and open-world gaming where immersion takes priority over the extreme refresh rates offered by the G6, G8 and G9.<\/p>\n

At 42 inches and 16:9, it also occupies an interesting space between a conventional desktop gaming monitor and the large OLED televisions increasingly being used for PC and console gaming.<\/p>\n

\"Odyssey<\/a><\/p>\n

HDR10+ GAMING Expands to More AAA Games<\/p>\n

Samsung isn\u2019t only using Gamescom to show off new hardware.<\/p>\n

The company is also expanding HDR10+ GAMING, including a partnership with Activision Blizzard that will bring the technology into the development process for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.<\/p>\n

HDR10+ GAMING allows compatible displays to reproduce colour and contrast based on dynamic HDR information from supported games, with Samsung saying it helps its displays more accurately reflect the developer\u2019s creative intent.<\/p>\n

Samsung plans to expand HDR10+ GAMING support to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.<\/p>\n

The company is also continuing to build support for its glasses-free Odyssey 3D gaming technology through direct collaboration with game studios.<\/p>\n

Newly supported titles include Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn, with Samsung demonstrating how the technology can add depth and spatial perspective to game environments.<\/p>\n

Samsung says the new range continues its position as the world\u2019s leading gaming monitor brand, with the company having held the number one position globally for seven consecutive years.<\/p>\n

The 2027 Odyssey lineup is being shown publicly at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne.<\/p>\n

Australian pricing and availability have not yet been announced.<\/p>\n
