After rising 7.36% the previous day, it has been soaring for two consecutive days. This week was the trigger for a surge as SK On secured long-term supplies of batteries for ESS.

SK On announced on the 31st of last month that it has signed a contract to supply battery cells for ESS with Neo Volta Power, a US ESS company. According to the contract, SK On will supply a total of 9GWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for five years from 2027 to 2031. This is nearly half of the order guidance of 20GWh proposed this year. The amount will be supplied from the Georgia plant in the U.S., and the contract is estimated to be about 1.5 trillion won.

Another factor supporting the stock price is that the refining margin remains high due to the surge in oil prices. Oil prices have also risen again this month as military tensions between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz have risen again.

Lee Jin-myung, a researcher at Shinhan Investment & Securities, said, “After the oil refining operating profit recorded 2.9 trillion won in the first half of the year, it is expected to record 2 trillion won in the second half due to product supply disruptions and improved crude oil procurement,” adding, “In particular, lubricants will continue to contribute to high profits based on limited supply.”

With the surge during the day, SK Innovation has made up for most of the fall caused by the recent news of the merger with SKIET.

Jeon Yoo-jin, a researcher at iM Securities, said, “SKON’s ESS contract is encouraging in that it has taken the first step toward entering the US ESS market. It is interpreted as a positive event to relieve the disappointment of the SKIET merger.”

#

Refining Margin

SK Innovation

SKIET

Yonhap News

Energy Storage

Korea Exchange

Neo Volta

사진 확대 SK On Seosan Factory View SK Innovation is showing a steep rise in stock prices thanks…

[23
1639,337,70585,70584,241,240,1363,67261,16973
post-138801","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sk","tag-energy-storage","tag-korea-exchange","tag-neo-volta","tag-refining-margin","tag-sk","tag-sk-group","tag-sk-innovation","tag-skiet","tag-yonhap-news
["GET
