Bruce Zimmerman’s (Hanwha Eagles) ordeal is getting longer.<\/p>\n

Hanwha, led by head coach Kim Kyung-moon, knelt down to manager Lee Kang-chul’s KT Wiz 6-9 in an away game of the 2026 professional baseball KBO League regular season at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 2nd. As a result, Hanwha, which has been mired in an eight-game losing streak, fell to ninth place with 64 losses (49 wins and 3 draws).<\/p>\n

Zimmerman’s slump was crucial. He went to the bullpen, but failed to block KT’s batters.<\/p>\n

Zimmerman, who took the mound in the bottom of the seventh inning when the two teams were tied 4-4, walked leadoff hitter Ahn Hyun-min. Follow-up hitter Sam Hilliard handled it with a fly to second base, but he lost his first run after being hit by an RBI double by Kim Min-hyuk.<\/p>\n

In response, Hanwha replaced the pitcher with right-hander Lee Min-woo. Zimmerman’s final performance on the day was one hit and two runs with one out in 0.1 innings as the successor hit home. Since then, Hanwha has lost three games (no wins) of the season as it failed to tie the game. The ERA also rose from 14.06 to 14.88.<\/p>\n

Zimmerman is a left-hander who was drafted by the Atlanta Braves with the 140th overall pick in the fifth round in the 2017 draft. He has played for the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals, and posted an 8-11 record and 5.63 ERA in 40 MLB games (28 starts, 169.1 innings). In Triple-A, he played 112 games (95 starts, 523 innings) and recorded 30 wins, 26 losses, and 500 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Hanwha selected Zimmerman as a substitute when Wilkel Hernandez, a former foreign pitcher, was sluggish with 3-6 losses and a 4.92 ERA.<\/p>\n

However, Zimmerman did not live up to Hanwha’s expectations. He pitched well against the LG Twins in Daejeon on July 26, when he made his KBO League debut, with three hits and two strikeouts in four innings, but against Suwon KT on August 1 (eight hits and two outs in four innings, three strikeouts, seven runs\/loss), against the Daegu Samsung Lions on August 14 (five innings, 10 hits, three homers, one homer, five strikeouts, six runs\/loss), against Daejeon LG on August 21 (six runs\/loss against Nodisi), against the Incheon SSG Landers on August 27 (two hits, two homers, two strikeouts, five runs\/Nodidi).<\/p>\n

Manager Kim Kyung-moon made the decision to use Zimmerman as a bullpen instead of starting, but the result came back as a disastrous failure. Hanwha’s concerns have deepened in many ways.<\/p>\n
