{"id":141963,"date":"2026-09-03T15:17:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T15:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/141963\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T15:17:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T15:17:07","slug":"ge-aerospace-to-provide-marine-gas-turbine-engines-for-south-koreas-kddx-destroyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/141963\/","title":{"rendered":"GE Aerospace to provide marine gas turbine engines for South Korea&#8217;s KDDX destroyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SINGAPORE \u2014 GE Aerospace has announced that its LM2500+G4 marine gas turbine engine will power new destroyers for South Korea\u2019s Navy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geaerospace.com\/news\/press-releases\/rokn-selects-ge-aerospace-power-new-kddx-destroyer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">press release on Tuesday<\/a> that it will supply 12 LM2500+G4 engines for six KDDX-class ships being built for the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN). No contract value was announced and South Korea\u2019s defense ministry has not responded to questions from Breaking Defense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe LM2500+G4\u2019s integration with KDDX\u2019s full electric propulsion configuration offers the ships superior operational flexibility and fuel economy, power for future growth, and optimal survivability\/redundancy,\u201d said GE\u2019s press release, adding that the engine would meet the power demands of the KDDX-class.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asha Belarski, vice president and general manager of GE Aerospace\u2019s marine engines and systems division, said that transitioning to a full electric propulsion system is a step towards the next generation of naval propulsion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are honored to be a part of this project incorporating the latest advancements in shipbuilding. The selection of GE Aerospace\u2019s LM2500+G4 technology strengthens our strong collaborations in Korea and demonstrates our commitment to local manufacturing,\u201d Belarski said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GE noted in its press release that the RoKN has procured 163 GE Aerospace marine gas turbines for 95 ships.
