LG Electronics<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">BERLIN \u2014 LG Electronics (066570) is stepping up efforts to win more orders for robot actuators, and is in talks with a global Big Tech company on supplying the components, with a meeting set for October to discuss details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">Baek Seung-tae, head of LG Electronics&#8217; Home Appliance Solution division, said on the 6th that the company is discussing actuator supply with a range of global customers, including logistics and manufacturing firms as well as robot makers. He spoke at a press briefing during IFA 2026, Europe&#8217;s largest home appliance trade show, in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">&#8220;We are also in talks with a Big Tech company on actuator supply, and a meeting is scheduled for October,&#8221; Baek said. Actuators are core drivetrain components that move a robot&#8217;s joints and control its motion. In January, at CES 2026 in the United States, LG Electronics unveiled its own robot component brand, &#8220;LG Actuator Axium,&#8221; alongside its home robot &#8220;LG CLOiD.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">LG Electronics plans to establish mass production of Axium within the year and begin a full-scale push for orders. Drawing on motor and drive control technology built up in its home appliance business, the company currently offers nine Axium models across different sizes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">The company is pointing to its motor technology in particular as a competitive strength. &#8220;LG Electronics has been making motors for 60 years, and we have the technology to make them more than 30% lighter than our competitors,&#8221; Baek said. &#8220;We will expand orders on the strength of high efficiency, light weight and cost competitiveness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">The industry estimates that actuators account for as much as 60% to 70% of the cost of a humanoid robot.
