we have an idea of who the customer might be,&#8221; general manager of product planning Jonathan Lam told Australian media, including CarExpert, in Sydney. <\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">&#8220;We actually think there\u2019s an opportunity to capitalise on the more off-road-oriented market without necessarily getting into a ladder-chassis rugged SUV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">&#8220;There\u2019s going to be consumers who traditionally might want a ladder-frame SUV, but also want a car that\u2019s got a few more of the benefits of a monocoque SUV in terms of day-to-day drivability.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1ivmml5gc _1ivmml5d _1ivmml5nd _1ivmml56 _1ivmml5n\">Looking for your next car?<\/p>\n<p class=\"nb3b4e7 _1ivmml5gc _1ivmml5d _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52\">CarExpert can help you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/car-chooser\" class=\"_1isa4f20 nb3b4e8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">research<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/compare-cars\" class=\"_1isa4f20 nb3b4e8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">compare<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/buy\" class=\"_1isa4f20 nb3b4e8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">buy<\/a> so you choose with confidence.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"_1ivmml51dt _1ivmml51vp _1ivmml514 _1u8h4qz8\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2027-hyundai-palisade-xrtpro-offroad-8.jpg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"A Hyundai Palisade SUV driving through a muddy off-road track, seen from the front, with mud splashing around the bumper.\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">Aussie adventurers have traditionally favoured vehicles such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/ford\/everest\" class=\"_87i7r20 _87i7r21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ford Everest<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/toyota\/landcruiser-prado\" class=\"_87i7r20 _87i7r21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Toyota Prado<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carexpert.com.au\/isuzu\/mu-x\" class=\"_87i7r20 _87i7r21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Isuzu MU-X<\/a> for off-road duties, all of which offer body-on-frame construction and four-wheel drive systems with selectable low-range gearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">The XRT Pro ticks neither of those boxes, instead using monocoque underpinnings and an on-demand all-wheel drive system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">However, Hyundai hopes to tempt off-road enthusiasts with a one-inch suspension lift, all-terrain tyres and an electronic limited-slip rear differential, among other upgrades it says help bridge the gap between &#8220;a traditional 4WD and an all-wheel drive SUV&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">Meanwhile, Hyundai still sees the XRT Pro appealing to existing monocoque SUV buyers who want more off-road capability, rather than solely traditional 4WD customers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">Beyond its off-road upgrades, the XRT Pro also spruiks a greater braked towing capacity of 2200kg \u2013 up from the standard Palisade&#8217;s 2000kg limit, but still well short of the 3500kg claimed by large off-road SUV rivals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">&#8220;There will be buyers who want the [extra] towing capability and&#8230; others who want the off-road capability,&#8221; said Mr Lam of the XRT Pro.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7p3v71 _1ivmml5nk _1ivmml52 _1ivmml5d _1ivmml53ex _1ivmml53k6 _1ivmml53s5 _1ivmml53xe\">&#8220;This is a step in the water for us.
