LG estimates its OLED technology will reduce plastic consumption by approximately 15,000t and cut CO2 emissions by around 80,000t in 2026 compared with an equivalent volume of LCD televisions.

The company’s OLED TVs received Reducing CO2 and Measured CO2 certifications from the Carbon Trust for the sixth consecutive year. Certification types vary by model size and region. The 83-, 77- and 65-inch OLED evo G6 models earned Reducing CO2 certification, while the 55-inch G6 model received Reducing CO2 certification outside Europe and Measured CO2 certification within Europe.

The Carbon Trust, an independent climate consultancy, evaluates emissions across a product’s entire lifecycle, including materials sourcing, production, use and disposal. LG said its self-emissive OLED technology contributes to lower emissions by eliminating the need for backlighting and reducing the number of components and materials required.

LG’s 2026 TV lineup also received Resource Efficiency certification from Intertek across eight television series. The certification evaluated material efficiency, energy efficiency and recycled content.

In South Korea, Korea’s E-Cycle Governance recognized LG TV models as E-Cycle Excellent Products for the fourth consecutive year. The certification assesses 11 criteria, including recyclable design, reduced hazardous substances and ease of disassembly. LG’s lifestyle television lineup was included for the first time, with the 32-inch Stan byME 2 model receiving certification alongside OLED evo C6 models in 55-, 48- and 42-inch formats.

LG said it has recycled approximately 20,000 t of end-of-life plastic across its TV business during the past three years and plans to further increase the use of post-consumer recycled materials throughout 2026.

“Our 2026 TV lineup demonstrates how environmental responsibility and premium performance can come together in a meaningful way. These certifications represent measurable progress in how we design, build and manage our products over their full lifecycle,” said Lee Choong-hwoan, Head of Display Business, LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

The certifications come as LG continues to strengthen its ESG positioning globally. The company received a “Top 1%” ranking in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the third consecutive year, scoring 77 out of 100 in the Leisure Equipment & Products and Consumer Electronics category.

According to S&P Global, only 70 of 9,243 companies assessed across 62 industries achieved the “Top 1%” distinction, with LG among only two South Korean companies included in the ranking.

LG also maintained its position in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index for the 14th consecutive year, marking the longest inclusion record for a South Korean home appliance company. The company received an upgraded “AA” MSCI ESG Rating after five years at the “A” level, while EcoVadis awarded LG its second consecutive Platinum rating, reserved for the top 1% of companies in each industry category. Sustainalytics also assigned LG a “Low” ESG Risk Rating.

The company said it is working to transition all global business sites to 100% renewable energy by 2050 while expanding circular economy initiatives through increased recycled plastic use and paper-based packaging materials. LG added that it is also pursuing carbon reduction initiatives tied to high-efficiency heat pump technologies and enhancing governance practices through measures aimed at increasing board independence and transparency.

LG Electronics said its 2026 television lineup received multiple global environmental certifications as the company expands its sustainability…

[621
1617,5630,7797,6147,1618,2189,10883,10889,10881,1673,4785,10882,1621,10886,315,357,10888,10884,10879,3490,10887,10885,33,8197,10880,2280
0":"post-14756","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-lg-electronics","8":"tag-carbon-trust","9":"tag-carbon-reduction","10":"tag-circular-economy","11":"tag-clean-technology","12":"tag-co2-emissions","13":"tag-consumer-electronics","14":"tag-corporate-governance","15":"tag-ecovadis","16":"tag-electronics-industry","17":"tag-energy-efficiency","18":"tag-esg","19":"tag-esg-ratings","20":"tag-intertek","21":"tag-lee-choong-hwoan","22":"tag-lg","23":"tag-lg-electronics","24":"tag-msci","25":"tag-oled-technology","26":"tag-recycled-plastics","27":"tag-renewable-energy","28":"tag-sp-global","29":"tag-smart-tvs","30":"tag-south-korea","31":"tag-sustainability","32":"tag-sustainable-manufacturing","33":"tag-sustainalytics
["GET
