Photo by Hanwha Aerospace&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;\n                                            <\/p>\n<p>SEOUL, May 15 (UPI) &#8212; South Korea&#8217;s Hanwha Aerospace said Friday it teamed up with Estonia&#8217;s Milrem Robotics for Romania&#8217;s unmanned ground vehicle, or UGV, program.<\/p>\n<p>Hanwha Aerospace and its Romanian subsidiary signed an agreement with Milrem Robotics on the sidelines of the Black Sea Defense &amp; Aerospace 2026 exhibition in Bucharest, Romania.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Seoul-based defense company said the three-way contract is intended to build a collaborative framework, combining respective strengths in wheeled and tracked unmanned systems and helping to meet Romania&#8217;s requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Under the partnership, Hanwha Aerospace plans to integrate Milrem Robotics&#8217; THeMIS tracked system into its wheeled platforms, including Arion-SMET and GRUNT.\n<\/p>\n<p>Because of the increasing geopolitical tensions over the past few years, a number of European countries, including Romania, are seeking to introduce UGVs to beef up battlefield capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Lino Lim, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Romania, said in a statement that the deal represents an important step toward bringing advanced unmanned capabilities into Romania through localized production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By combining next-generation UGV technologies from the two companies, we aim to deliver a flexible and scalable solution tailored to Romania&#8217;s operational needs, while contributing to the development of its defense industrial base and strengthening European cooperation,&#8221; he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>Milrem Robotics chief Kuldar V\u00e4\u00e4rsi said that its THeMIS system is one of the first UGVs in Europe to have entered mass production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With two established manufacturing sites in Europe and extensive experience in technology transfer, we see strong potential to expand manufacturing capabilities to Romania in cooperation with Hanwha,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The share price of Hanwha Aerospace declined 6.89% on the Seoul bourse Friday, while the broader KOSPI index plunged 6.12% amid heavy selling by international investors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hanwha Aerospace Romania Lino Lim (2-R) poses with Milrem Robotics CEO Kuldar V\u00e4\u00e4rsi (2-L) after signing an agreement&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":18179,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[30],"tags":[78,355,354,206,207],"class_list":{"0":"post-18178","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-hanwha","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-hanwha","10":"tag-hanwha-group","11":"tag-top-news","12":"tag-world"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18178","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=18178"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18178\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/18179"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=18178"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=18178"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=18178"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
