Samsung Heavy Industries&#8217; design relies on a standardized shipbuilding process, combining design work, manufacturing, and equipment installation in a concurrent manner to boost efficiency. The company claims this method shortens project lead times and incorporates a proprietary power generation system, decreasing dependence on power from land-based grids. ABS performed design evaluations based on its class rules.<\/p>\n<p>Gareth Burton, ABS Senior Vice President of Global Engineering, stated that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence capabilities creates a clear opportunity to support the growing infrastructure needs of AI and data-heavy tasks. He added that as the demand for data centers rises, placing them offshore could help address certain risks and reduce pressure on local electricity networks.<\/p>\n<p>Young-kyu Ahn, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Samsung Heavy Industries, described floating data centers as a new business model that extends the company&#8217;s shipbuilding expertise into the digital infrastructure sector.
