The Seoul Bankruptcy Court has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) to support the successful turnaround of companies undergoing rehabilitation, the court said on the 15th.<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, the Seoul Bankruptcy Court will recommend companies with high turnaround potential among those undergoing rehabilitation proceedings to KOTEC. KOTEC will then review the recommended companies and provide financial support, including turnaround guarantees.<\/p>\n
“We expect this will help rehabilitating companies achieve stable and swift recovery and normalize their operations,” an official of the Seoul Bankruptcy Court said.<\/p>\n
The signing ceremony was attended by Seoul Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Jeong Jun-young, Senior Presiding Judge Yang Min-ho, Presiding Judge Won Yong-il in charge of corporate rehabilitation, Deputy Presiding Judge Nam Seung-jung of corporate rehabilitation, Judge Lee Hyung-won, and other court officials, along with KOTEC Chairman Kim Jong-ho, Corporate Restructuring Innovation Department Director Jung Young-hak, Seoul Western Corporate Restructuring Innovation Center Director Shin Seong-ho, Seoul Eastern Corporate Restructuring Innovation Center Director Oh Chung-yeol, and Deputy Director Sun Min-ho of the Corporate Restructuring Innovation Department.<\/p>\n
The Seoul Bankruptcy Court has been strengthening its cooperation with KOTEC. Through the “Sale of Patents Held by Bankrupt Companies” project pursued with KOTEC last year, the court facilitated the technology transfer of 64 patents out of 123 that were at risk of expiration.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Busan Bankruptcy Court also recently signed an MOU with KOTEC for “the utilization of intellectual property (IP) held by bankrupt companies and support for revitalizing technology transactions among small and medium-sized enterprises.” The Busan Bankruptcy Court will support swift and smooth technology disposal by sharing IP information of bankrupt companies and improving sales procedures.
