Photo courtesy of LG Uplus<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">LG Uplus (032640.KS) said Wednesday that the cumulative number of USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) updates and free replacements has surpassed 2 million, as the carrier focuses on resolving security concerns related to International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) numbers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">According to LG Uplus, between May 13 and the previous day, USIM updates totaled 750,461 and USIM replacements reached 1,264,066. Cumulative processing came to 2,014,527 cases, representing a 11.8% processing rate against total subscribers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">LG Uplus is strengthening customer guidance to help more subscribers easily understand the need for USIM updates and replacements and participate in the program. Through May telecom service bills, the company is providing additional notice to all customers about the IMSI system transition and the ongoing USIM update and free replacement program. The notice is available not only on paper bills but also on email bills and electronic bills within the U+one application. Customers who have not completed the update will see a banner guiding them through the process when they access the U+one app.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">LG Uplus has also enhanced its FAQ section. The guidance has been strengthened with a focus on the background of the IMSI system transition, the need for USIM updates and replacements, and the methods and procedures for use. LG Uplus is converting the IMSI system, which had assigned personal identification numbers based on subscribers&#8217; mobile phone numbers, to a random number-based method. Starting on the 15th of this month, U+ Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) customers can also visit LG Uplus direct stores and agencies nationwide to update or freely replace their USIMs, expanding the available channels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">&#8220;The USIM update and replacement program in line with the IMSI system transition is a measure to strengthen customer protection,&#8221; said Lee Jae-won, vice president of LG Uplus. &#8220;We will continue to strengthen our guidance so that customers can easily recognize the relevant information and participate.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LG Uplus headquarters in Yongsan.
