It also topped the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Spotify\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spotify<\/a> chart in July 2025, briefly <a class=\"md-dictionary-link md-dictionary-tt-off eb\" data-term=\"surpassing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/dictionary\/surpassing\" data-type=\"EB\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">surpassing<\/a> the bands <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/BTS\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BTS<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Blackpink\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blackpink<\/a>, and later hit number one on the Official U.K. Singles Chart\u2014the first K-pop single to do so since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/PSY\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Psy<\/a>\u2019s \u201cGangnam Style\u201d (2012).<\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">Following its release, the film became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/money\/Netflix-Inc\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a>\u2019s most-watched title of all time, with more than 236 million views in two months. KPop Demon Hunters was named best animated feature at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/Academy-Award\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Academy Awards<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/Golden-Globe-Award\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden Globes<\/a>, and the Critics Choice Awards.<\/p>\n<p>  Music and soundtrack  <\/p>\n<p>Legacy<\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">Given the film\u2019s unprecedented success, Sony and Netflix have confirmed early talks for a sequel, with Kang suggesting that a future installment could center on Mira or Zoey\u2019s backstories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">The film has also expanded into publishing. In collaboration with Netflix, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/money\/Penguin-Random-House\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penguin Random House<\/a> announced a multi-imprint publishing program set in the world of KPop Demon Hunters, including children\u2019s titles, illustrated and activity books, and a planned manhwa (Korean <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/comic-book\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">comic books<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/graphic-novel\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">graphic novels<\/a>) <a class=\"md-dictionary-link md-dictionary-tt-off mw\" data-term=\"adaptation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/adaptation\" data-type=\"MW\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">adaptation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">Music is the film\u2019s engine\u2014diegetic songs carry plot and character arcs. Through its music Huntr\/x strengthens the protective barrier that keeps its fans safe from Gwi-Ma, whereas the Saja Boys use their music to entice and drain their audiences. Executive music producer Ian Eisendrath worked with a wide team of writers and producers, including Teddy Park, Lindgren, Jenna Andrews, and Stephen Kirk. The soundtrack features vocals by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee, Neckwav, and Lea Salonga.<\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">The film\u2019s soundtrack, <a class=\"md-dictionary-link md-dictionary-tt-off mw\" data-term=\"comprising\" href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/comprising\" data-type=\"MW\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">comprising<\/a> 12 original songs, achieved a level of commercial success seldom seen for a production released directly to streaming. It became the first soundtrack to place four songs simultaneously in the Billboard Hot 100\u2019s top 10\u2014with \u201cGolden\u201d at number 1, \u201cYour Idol\u201d at number 4, \u201cSoda Pop\u201d at number 5, and \u201cHow It\u2019s Done\u201d at number 10. \u201cGolden\u201d stayed at the top for multiple weeks as it gained traction on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/radio\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">radio<\/a>, while the album held the number-2 spot on the Billboard 200 and surpassed three billion global streams by late August 2025. In 2026 \u201cGolden\u201d became the first K-pop song to win a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/Grammy-Award\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grammy Award<\/a>. Netflix has also launched an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/Academy-Award\" class=\"md-crosslink \" data-show-preview=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oscar<\/a> campaign, submitting \u201cGolden\u201d in the best original song category.
