Ocean lays keel for Singapore\u2019s first FSRU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore LNG, the state-owned operator of the country\u2019s first LNG import terminal on Jurong Island, announced the keel-laying ceremony for the 204,000-cbm FSRU (Hull No. 2597) in a social media post on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast week, some of our colleagues attended the keel-laying ceremony for the floating storage and regasification Unit (FSRU) for Singapore\u2019s second LNG terminal,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is another key milestone in the shipbuilding journey, symbolizing the formal start of assembly of the vessel\u2019s modular components,\u201d SLNG said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SLNG added that the FSRU\u2019s construction has been progressing according to schedule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hanwha Ocean officially\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/hanwha-ocean-kicks-off-work-on-singapores-first-fsru\/167044\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">began construction<\/a>\u00a0of MOL\u2019s FSRU in October last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SLNG will charter the unit under a<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/singapore-lng-confirms-mol-fsru-charter-deal\/130091\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0deal<\/a>\u00a0it signed with Japan\u2019s MOL in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore\u2019s first FSRU is worth $413 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a regasification capacity of 5 million tons per annum (mtpa), it will be moored at Jurong Port and connected to the gas network in 2030.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In March this year, SLNG and contractor China Communications Construction Company officially<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/singapore-starts-onshore-infrastructure-work-for-second-lng-terminal\/181330\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> kicked off construction<\/a> on the onshore connecting infrastructure for Singapore\u2019s second LNG terminal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among other things, the OCI will house key facilities such as the main process area, a jetty for the FSRU, and pipelines that will deliver regasified LNG into the national grid, SLNG said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FSRU-based facility will add to SLNG\u2019s Jurong Island plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore\u2019s first LNG terminal on Jurong Island began commercial operations in May 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It currently operates with two jetties, three storage tanks of 180,000 cbm each, a fourth storage tank of 260,000 cbm, and a peak sendout capacity of around 11
