Shinhan Asset Management said it will newly list a single-stock-based leverage and 2x inverse (gopbus) product using SK hynix (000660.KS) as the underlying asset on the Korea Exchange’s main bourse on the 27th.<\/p>\n
According to Shinhan Asset Management on the 26th, the “SOL SK hynix Single-Stock Leverage” tracks the daily return of SK hynix shares in the same direction with amplified exposure. The “SOL SK hynix Futures Single-Stock Inverse 2X” tracks twice the daily return of SK hynix futures in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
Leverage exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can generate profits when the underlying asset moves in the anticipated direction, but losses can expand significantly if the price moves against expectations. Given that the daily price limit for domestic stocks is \u00b130%, substantial losses can occur even within a single day, requiring caution. In the case of gopbus, losses can rapidly widen when the underlying asset’s price rises, and investment risks can grow further if directional judgments prove wrong.<\/p>\n
Shinhan Asset Management also recommended checking the disparity ratio before purchase. Leverage and inverse products can show differences between net asset value or indicative value and market price depending on market supply and demand, liquidity, and underlying asset volatility. If purchased at a temporarily overvalued price, additional losses may occur during the normalization of the disparity ratio even if the direction of the underlying asset is correctly predicted.<\/p>\n
In particular, due to the structure that operates on a daily return basis, the longer the holding period, the larger the gap between the cumulative return of the underlying asset and the product’s return can become. In highly volatile markets, the leverage effect and negative compounding effect pose significant risks of expanded losses over long-term holdings, the company explained.<\/p>\n
“Single-stock leverage and inverse products are tools that can efficiently execute short-term investment decisions on the directionality of specific stocks, but their risk structure differs from typical diversified ETFs,” said Kim Jung-hyun, head of the ETF business group at Shinhan Asset Management. “Especially since the underlying asset is a stock like SK hynix that draws high market interest and exhibits significant volatility, we recommend that investors check their investment status daily and use these products only for short-term trading purposes within a maximum of one week, within their loss tolerance range.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, investor protection measures apply to this product. Investors seeking to invest in single-stock leverage and inverse products must deposit a base amount of 10 million won.
