The follow-up order came just two months after the company won its first steam turbine supply contract in the North American market in March.

Doosan Enerbility said Tuesday it had signed a contract with a US company to supply four 370-megawatt (MW) steam turbines and four generators. The contracted equipment will be delivered sequentially to the Texas region of the United States through 2029. The combined installed capacity of the four power plants, to be built side by side, is 1,480 MW, exceeding the scale of a typical nuclear reactor.

The steam turbines awarded under this contract are core equipment for high-efficiency combined-cycle power generation, which produces additional electricity by utilizing waste heat from gas turbines. Combined-cycle power generation refers to a method in which natural gas drives a gas turbine, and the waste heat generated in the process drives a steam turbine once again. With high energy efficiency and the ability to supply stable power, it has recently drawn attention as a solution for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, which have been dubbed power-hungry hippos.

“Following our first North American steam turbine order in March, signing this additional supply contract has reaffirmed our competitiveness in the North American market,” said Son Seung-woo, head of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services BG. “We will use this project as a springboard to further expand our touchpoints with local customers and partners and actively pursue additional business opportunities in the North American market,” he added.

Meanwhile, Doosan Enerbility had secured steam turbine orders totaling 2.2 gigawatts (GW) as of the end of the first quarter this year. This corresponds to approximately 38% of last year’s total orders of 5.8 GW.

Doosan Enerbility steam turbine Doosan Enerbility (034020.KS) will supply four additional steam turbines to a US big tech…

[27
544,8709,20331,410,409,408,14447,20329,20332,20330
post-31476","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-doosan","tag-ai-data-center","tag-big-tech","tag-combined-cycle-power-generation","tag-doosan","tag-doosan-enerbility","tag-doosan-group","tag-north-american-market","tag-steam-turbine","tag-texas-power-plant","tag-us-data-center
["GET
