{"id":3580,"date":"2026-05-05T15:54:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T15:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/3580\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T15:54:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T15:54:47","slug":"hd-hyundai-heavy-industries-developing-new-floating-substation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/3580\/","title":{"rendered":"HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Developing New Floating Substation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has issued an Approval in Principle (AiP) for a new floating offshore substation design developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"687\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IMAGE2_ABS_HHI_Floating-Substation-1024x687.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-100310368\"  \/>Photo: ABS<\/p>\n<p>The substation concept received a SMART (SHM) Tier 3 AiP, which acknowledges the proposed structural health management system\u2019s alignment with the Tier 3 requirements in the ABS Guide for Smart Functions for Marine Vessels and Offshore Units. <\/p>\n<p>According to ABS, the recognition supports the system\u2019s design to integrate high-fidelity measurements with predictive modelling, positioning it to enhance the structural integrity management of the asset significantly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith validated real-time monitoring and cost-saving solutions, HD HHI looks forward to continuing our active technical cooperation with ABS as the project moves forward into actual construction and operation\u201d, said Byungki Choi, HD HHI Executive Vice President, Hyundai Maritime Research Institute.<\/p>\n<p>In floating wind, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has already developed a floating wind turbine foundation, called Hi-Float, which received Bureau Veritas\u2019s AiP back in 2021. <\/p>\n<p>In 2023, HD Hyundai Electric, Pacifico Energy Korea, CS Wind, Korea Ocean Engineering &amp;
