aespa held a press conference for the release of its second full-length album \u2018LEMONADE\u2019 at the Grand Ballroom of Sofitel Ambassador Seoul on the 28th.<\/p>\n

aespa, which debuted in November 2020, has led the K-pop scene with its unique worldview and musical spectrum. After winning the Bonsang at the Hanteo Music Awards for four consecutive years from 2022, the group also took home the Grand Prize in 2024, establishing itself as a true representative K-pop artist. With its third mini album \u2018MY WORLD\u2019 in 2023, aespa recorded 1,698,784 copies in initial chodong sales, the highest initial chodong sales for a girl group at the time, and with its first full-length album \u2018Armageddon\u2019 in 2024, the group also achieved 1,154,742 copies in initial chodong sales, confirming the strong support of its global fandom.<\/p>\n

This second full-length album, \u2018LEMONADE,\u2019 opens a new season of aespa\u2019s worldview and contains a total of 11 tracks across diverse genres, including the title track \u2018LEMONADE,\u2019 the pre-release track \u2018WDA (Whole Different Animal),\u2019 and \u2018Switchblade,\u2019 featuring Ty Dolla $ign.<\/p>\n

Regarding the title track \u2018LEMONADE,\u2019 WINTER said, \u201cIt\u2019s the song that best captures our own wit,\u201d adding, \u201cLike the saying, \u2018When life gives me lemons, I\u2019ll make lemonade,\u2019 it contains the ambition that no matter what trials and crises come my way, I\u2019ll grind them up and drink them.\u201d She added, \u201cRather than steel taste, I think it\u2019s closer to a sour taste, and fans called it \u2018steel-sour-sweet,\u2019\u201d adding, \u201cI really like that modifier as well.\u201d GISELLE shared, \u201cI think the biggest charm of LEMONADE is its message,\u201d adding, \u201cIt\u2019s a mindset I personally pursue as well, and the hook is very catchy and memorable.\u201d<\/p>\n

NINGNING revealed, \u201cLEMONADE is a very sour drink, but to aespa it\u2019s just a cheerful drink, so I recorded the part after the verse playfully to bring out that feeling,\u201d adding, \u201cThere\u2019s a Spanish part this time, and I kept using a translator to check the pronunciation while recording.\u201d KARINA said, \u201cWe refer to the various trials and crises people face as lemons, and we came back with the motto of turning them into delicious lemonade and drinking them,\u201d adding, \u201cOur ultimate goal is for many people to gain energy from this song.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members also talked about the pre-release track \u2018WDA.\u2019 KARINA introduced it by saying, \u201cIt\u2019s a song about a transcendent being from a different dimension,\u201d adding, \u201cWe tried to express a strong and solid aespa, and it\u2019s a song that signals Season 3 of a new chapter in our worldview.\u201d Regarding G-DRAGON\u2019s featuring, she said, \u201cIt was a song that had a featuring artist in mind from the moment we received the demo,\u201d adding, \u201cHe gladly agreed to join us and brought the part to life in his own cool style, which made the song even cooler.\u201d NINGNING said, \u201cI was shocked by how much I liked the music video the moment I saw it,\u201d adding, \u201cWe attempted a dramatic transformation through WDA.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members continued by discussing the album tracks. KARINA introduced the B-side \u2018SHAKIN\u2019 by saying, \u201cIt\u2019s one of the steel-taste B-sides we\u2019re confident in, with an addictive hook melody,\u201d adding, \u201cIt\u2019s a song with the bold ambition of shaking up someone\u2019s world.\u201d WINTER said of \u2018Switchblade,\u2019 \u201cIt metaphorically expresses changing into many different forms regardless of the situation,\u201d adding, \u201cIt contains both flexibility and strength, so it suits aespa\u2019s steel-taste charm very well.\u201d NINGNING introduced \u2018Roll\u2019 as \u201ca bouncy, cute song with a slight summer feel,\u201d adding, \u201cIt cleverly captures cute yet fierce emotions toward an ex-lover.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members also elaborated on the group\u2019s worldview. GISELLE revealed, \u201cThe lyrics of \u2018Next Level\u2019 are all connected right up to \u2018LEMONADE.\u2019\u201d KARINA explained, \u201cWe originally had a worldview where we traveled between the virtual world and the real world through P.O.S., and in the second chapter that expanded into a multiverse,\u201d adding, \u201cThis time, because we\u2019ve gone back and forth so much, a crack has formed.\u201d She continued, \u201cA crack has appeared in the real world, and everyone is confused and panicking, but for us it\u2019s nothing because we already caught Black Mamba in Kwangya and met Naevis,\u201d adding, \u201cThe third chapter is about turning that crisis into an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members also shared their thoughts on performing at Gocheok Sky Dome. WINTER said, \u201cI had only watched concerts at Gocheok Dome before, and even then I thought it was incredible to fill such a large venue, so it\u2019s hard to believe we\u2019re entering it while releasing our second full-length album,\u201d adding, \u201cI think it\u2019s all thanks to our fans.\u201d Regarding their upcoming Lollapalooza stage, NINGNING teased, \u201cI think we\u2019ll perform a lot of new songs, and they\u2019ll likely be stages Chicago fans have never seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n
