Courtesy of the Ministry of Employment and Labor<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor have launched a compulsory investigation into Hanwha Aerospace&#8217;s headquarters and other sites over an explosion at the company&#8217;s Daejeon plant that killed five workers while they were cleaning tools used to manufacture rocket propellants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">The Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office said Thursday it had deployed 55 personnel, together with the Daejeon Police Agency&#8217;s metropolitan crime investigation unit, starting that morning to conduct raids on three locations, including Hanwha Aerospace&#8217;s headquarters and its Daejeon plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">Labor authorities and police plan to secure materials related to the cause of the explosion, including procedures and blueprints for the propellant cleaning process, as well as documents related to the company&#8217;s safety and health management system. They also intend to determine whether sufficient safety measures were in place during work such as cleaning at the site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">Based on the materials secured through the raids, labor authorities plan to identify why the explosion accidents have recurred and to determine whether the company violated the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Explosion accident at Hanwha Aerospace in Daejeon.
