SEOUL, June 7 (Reuters) – Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong \u200cUn, said North Korea will never back \u200cdown on its status as a nuclear-armed state, warning that \u200bit will not tolerate any threats, state media agency KCNA said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit North Korea on Monday for the \u200cfirst time in \u2060nearly seven years as Beijing looks to reinforce ties with Pyongyang, China’s only formal \u2060treaty ally.<\/p>\n

Xi will meet Kim Jong Un and exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common \u200bconcern, \u200bChina’s foreign ministry said.<\/p>\n

Kim \u200bYo Jong also called \u200cU.S. claims that Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed a goal to denuclearize during a May summit “false.”<\/p>\n

“We have the most accurate information” on whether the claims are true or not, she said, without \u200celaborating.<\/p>\n

Early this week, North Korea \u200bunveiled a new nuclear material \u200bproduction factory where \u200bKim Jong Un called for an “exponential” \u200cexpansion of the country’s atomic \u200barsenal.<\/p>\n

Analysts said \u200bthe new uranium-enrichment site appeared aimed at reinforcing North Korea’s negotiating position ahead of the Xi-Kim \u200bsummit while \u200cjustifying an acceleration of its nuclear build-up.<\/p>\n
