In it, she described how her brand-new oven shattered after only three months of use.

    ‘Ovengate’

“Okay, so I have cinnamon rolls in the oven, and the oven door just shattered out of absolutely nowhere,” Mildly Feral Homemaking said in her clip. She then panned her phone’s camera toward the damage. ” I’m sitting on the couch and I hear a, like, a weird crashing noise… The glass on the inside of the oven door busted out of nowhere, but it didn’t get inside the oven, but it did fall through, like, the bottom.”

In a comment to The Mary Sue, Mildly Feral Homemaking explained that she purchased the oven in February. The TikToker said she called support. “Their automated prompts funneled me into a text thread and disconnected the call,” she added.

When she finally got to speak to a real representative, they immediately tried to pin the damage on her.

“The representative came on and almost immediately stated that it was not a manufacture defect” the TikToker said. “I insisted on speaking to a supervisor and she said she would escalate and they would reach out. When I asked for a reference number she paused and then put me on hold for several minutes.”

A supervisor asked the content creator for photos of the damaged oven. Mildly Feral Homemaking sent them. Then the supervisor let her know that “someone” would reach out.

“Now, I get that [expletive] happens but what I’m really upset about is the way LG customer support couldn’t care less and trying to insinuate that I broke the oven and that it wasn’t a manufacturer defect. Umm excuse me??” Mildly Feral Homemaking wrote in the caption.

    Other glass incidents

Mildly Feral Homemaking isn’t the first person to have their oven’s glass spontaneously shatter. In fact, there are at least 400 recorded incidents according to Consumer Reports. The publication cited a potential defect as the cause.

The issue isn’t specifically related to LG, either: 263 of the complaints described the incident occurring with Frigidaire ranges. GE, Whirlpool, LG and Samsung were all named in the report.

Luckily, there are ways to replace and repair broken oven glass doors. Owners of LG ovens must order a brand-new oven door, but it’s an easy fix according to some bloggers such as Kaylamind.

    Rumors about LG

Viewers were supportive of Mildly Feral Homemaking, and even told her some tidbits about LG appliances.

One commenter said that they used to work in claims. “[The] HIGHEST number of claims we received daily was for LG appliances,” they said. “#1 being their refrigerators. I have told everyone I know to never buy an LG appliance ever. They may look good…but won’t last and parts (specially ice maker) are always on ‘back order’”

A few viewers told Mildly Feral Homemaking that she shouldn’t eat the cinnamon rolls that were sitting in the oven.

“That’s horrible,” one viewer said. “Also, I would have thrown those rolls away for sure!! Nope, not taking that chance! obviously you had no issue with them (thank goodness) but my mind would not let me bake those lol.”

The original TikToker replied, saying, ”I normally wouldn’t but I searched really good to make sure there was no glass inside the oven at all. Also these were made from scratch.”

Others, though, focused their attention on LG and the issues they had with the brand. “LG is one of THE worst brands to purchase for your home,” another commenter said. “I worked as an office manager for a maintenance and appliance repair company for 16 yrs… LG is the ABSOLUTE worst from customer service to repairs to purchasing replacement parts.”

Then, there are accounts from other creators to avoid LG products, alongside brands like Whirpool and Samsung.

In a response to an inquiry, a representative from LG stated: “LG takes all consumer concerns seriously and is aware of these incidents which have been thoroughly reviewed. Based on the information currently available, LG has not identified a basis at this time for additional action. LG is committed to the safety and quality of its products.”

An update from Mildly Feral Homemaking

In subsequent updates, Mildly Feral Homemaking shared that she did meet with an LG technician to fix the issue. The only problem was that the LG technician came to fix her “stovetop,” not her glass door.

“The technician showed up on 5/6/26 and brought a replacement stovetop,” the TikToker said. “When I told him it’s my oven door and not stovetop, he said oh I have to order that, they ordered the wrong thing. Then they scheduled to come back out 5/11/26 so I stayed home from work waiting for them. By noon I called support and they said the driver was still coming, just running late. After that, I got a text stating they had to reschedule.”

In her video’s description, she asked, “[What] happened to the pictures and videos I sent support of my shattered OVEN DOOR?” Days later, the oven door was still broken because the LG technician who was supposed to come didn’t arrive at her door.

She finally got the oven door fixed, which she described to The Mary Sue. “I rescheduled for 5/13/26. Repair window was from 1pm – 5pm so I went to work in the morning. As soon as I got to work, I get a call that the technician is almost to my house. 4 hours before my repair window. So I had to go home. He did repair my oven door at that point by replacing the middle glass that had shattered.”

The content creator said that she received no apologies or acknowledgement that it was a manufacturing issue.

@mildlyferalhomemaking Our brand new (less than 3 months old) LG oven, shattered out of nowhere yesterday while I was baking cinnamon rolls!!!!
