I love it. And if you’ve seen it, then you know what I mean when I say that particular sound pops up in my head like a jump scare all the damn time. So, consider me curious that the film is getting an Indonesian remake dubbed Korean Haunted Hospital, reports Variety.

Anggy Umbara directed from a screenplay by Lele Laila.

MD Pictures and Umbara Brothers Film produced the picture.

No word yet on specific plot details or how closely it will follow the original.

The original followed a web series crew who head to an abandoned hospital for their next show, only to discover it really is haunted.

Said Umbara, “I grew up surrounded by cinema. Coming from a family of filmmakers and starting my journey as a child actor, film has always felt like part of my identity. Among all genres, I have always been deeply connected to found footage because it creates a raw, intimate experience that feels frighteningly real. Films like The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, Chronicle, and especially Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum shaped my love for this storytelling style. When I learned this remake was being developed, I immediately knew I had to be part of it. I poured my fears, curiosity, scepticism, and excitement into every character and scene.”

Added Laila, “The original Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is one of my favorite horror films ever made. When I heard that MD Pictures had acquired the remake rights, I immediately pitched this story. My goal was to create a localized version that honors the original while bringing something new to the table – something distinct enough to justify its own existence as a remake.“

Korean Haunted Hospital is set to have its world premiere on July 9th at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan), where it will screen in the festival’s Signature section. Following that, the film will be released in Indonesia under the title 402: Rumah Sakit Angker Korea.

Tags: anggy umbara gonjam haunted asylum korean haunted hospital lele laila

Categorized:News

The found footage haunter, Gonjam: Haunted Asylum, is by far one of the scariest Korean horror films I’ve…

[2
27708,27709,171,27710,27711
post-47277","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-korea","tag-anggy-umbara","tag-gonjam-haunted-asylum","tag-korean","tag-korean-haunted-hospital","tag-lele-laila
["GET
