LG Electronics (066570.KS) has swept the top rankings in laundry appliance and refrigerator categories in evaluations by the largest US consumer publication, demonstrating its product competitiveness in the North American market. Going beyond simple failure-rate (reliability) assessments, the company also far outpaced its rivals in performance, once again confirming the maxim that “for home appliances, it’s LG.”<\/p>\n
According to industry sources Friday, LG Electronics scored 93 points and earned the highest rating in the “Most Reliable Laundry Appliance Brands of the Year” evaluation recently released by Consumer Reports (CR), the largest US consumer magazine.<\/p>\n
The survey analyzed the five-year failure rates of washing machines (108,608 units) and dryers (96,315 units), based on consumers who purchased new products between 2015 and 2025. The evaluation covered a total of seven categories: four for washing machines (front-load, compact, top-load agitator, and top-load impeller) and three for dryers (electric, gas, and compact).<\/p>\n
LG Electronics was placed in the top group alongside Germany’s Miele (99 points) and the US’s Speed Queen (90 points). Among these three top-ranked companies, LG Electronics is the only comprehensive appliance brand that sells products across all seven categories. GE (61 points), acquired by China’s Haier, along with its subsidiary brand Hotpoint (67 points), and Asko (50 points) under China’s Hisense, ranked in the lower tier.<\/p>\n
LG also proved unrivaled in low failure rates and performance evaluations. Among the roughly 150 products tested by Consumer Reports, LG Electronics dryers swept the performance scores from first to 17th place. In the lineup of the nine best dryers for 2026, three electric models and three gas models were selected, demonstrating the company’s technological prowess.<\/p>\n
LG Electronics also stood out in the refrigerator category. According to Consumer Reports’ evaluation, LG Electronics was named the only brand to place within the top two across all three major refrigerator categories: French door, side-by-side, and top freezer. It took first place in the top-freezer category with 74 points, and second place in both the French door (72 points) and side-by-side (65 points) categories. Forbes, a leading US business magazine, also recently praised LG Electronics’ top-freezer refrigerator, selecting it as the best value-for-money refrigerator.<\/p>\n
Analysts attribute the high ratings to the company’s core component technology. “We have added artificial intelligence (AI) to our core component technology, such as motors and compressors, to control movements in a more delicate and precise manner,” an LG Electronics official said. “We will continue to apply various convenience features that innovate the customer experience to lead the global home appliance market.”<\/p>\n
