Samsung Biologics has completed the acquisition of a biologics manufacturing facility in Rockville, Maryland from GSK, marking the company\u2019s first manufacturing presence in the United States.<\/p>\n
The Rockville site includes two cGMP manufacturing plants with a combined 60,000-liter drug substance capacity, supporting both clinical and commercial biologics production. Following the acquisition, Samsung Biologics\u2019 total global manufacturing capacity rises to 845,000 liters.<\/p>\n
The company said it will continue producing products for GSK at the facility under the terms of the agreement, while gradually expanding its use of the site for broader contract manufacturing activities. Additional investment is planned to increase capacity and upgrade technologies.<\/p>\n

The move strengthens Samsung Biologics\u2019 ability to operate a more geographically diversified manufacturing network, while also supporting efforts to improve supply chain resilience and patient access to biologic medicines.<\/p>\n
