Kang Joon-hyun, chief spokesman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said Tuesday that no contact had yet been made regarding whether the party leadership would attend a welcoming event for President Lee Jae-myung’s return from his overseas trip.<\/p>\n

“As far as I know, no contact has come from the presidential office yet, and they will communicate by today,” Kang said, meeting with reporters after the supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly that day. “I understand the presidential office and the party are currently coordinating, and nothing has been decided yet.”<\/p>\n

On concerns over factional conflict ahead of the Aug. 17 national convention, Kang said, “All lawmakers belonging to our party are pro-Lee.” He added, “We all united as one to bring about the Lee Jae-myung administration, and that context is being maintained.”<\/p>\n

“Whether it is the press or YouTube, they are creating exaggerated frames,” he said. “I hope words like ‘anti-presidential office’ and ‘anti-Lee’ can be refrained from a bit.”<\/p>\n

He also said, “There are various problems related to youth policy, so the party must respond quickly.” He added, “We plan to discuss this at the policy committee level, with the party and government communicating closely, and at times pursue a strategy of swiftly resolving issues through policy debates.”<\/p>\n
