LG Electronics (066570.KS) has built a research lab that closely replicates an actual home to secure high-quality data needed for research and development in the home appliance sector.

LG Electronics said Monday that it recently remodeled “ThinQ Real” at LG Science Park in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. ThinQ Real is a 100-square-meter space dedicated to collecting and analyzing lifestyle data, such as usage patterns, needed for developing and enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) home appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) products.

Since its launch in 2022, ThinQ Real had been operated as two separate spaces targeting one- to two-person households and three- to four-person households, respectively. LG Electronics has now merged them into a single space resembling a 30-pyeong home, commonly referred to as the “national standard size” in Korea. The move is aimed at focusing on four-person household customers, who represent the largest source of home appliance demand. The lab faithfully replicates the spaces found in a 30-pyeong home, from the entrance to the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and dressing room.

ThinQ Real collects data and tests and validates automation scenarios by linking with LG Electronics’ AI home hub “ThinQ On,” dozens of AI home appliances, and IoT devices. The company plans to pursue synergies across business divisions by leveraging the roughly 10,000 LG Electronics R&D personnel based at LG Science Park. LG Electronics also plans to use the space as a showroom to introduce its solutions to various business-to-business (B2B) customers, including construction firms, interior design companies and mobile carriers.

“Based on the diverse data accumulated at ThinQ Real, we will deliver a more convenient daily life to our customers,” said Jeong Ki-hyun, senior vice president of the Home Appliance Solution (HS) Platform Business Center at LG Electronics.

LG Electronics employees conduct research at “ThinQ Real,” an AI Home data research space inside LG Science Park…

[621
3002,4738,4735,315,357,4736,4739,4737,4734
post-5770","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-lg-electronics","tag-ai-home-appliances","tag-home-appliance-rd","tag-iot","tag-lg","tag-lg-electronics","tag-lg-science-park","tag-smart-home","tag-thinq-on","tag-thinq-real
["GET
