SK hynix traded at 2.75 million won at that time, down 5.79% from the previous session.

SK hynix traded at 3.002 million won in the NXT (Nextrade) pre-market, climbing past the 3-million-won mark, but fell during regular trading. The decline is attributed to overall weakness in big tech stocks, even though Micron and SanDisk rose 6.9% and 4.1%, respectively, in the U.S. market overnight. As a result, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index closed down 1.33%.

SK hynix has recently extended a steep rally. The market points to the company’s push for a U.S. American Depositary Receipt (ADR) listing as the main driver. Analysts expect that if the ADR listing materializes, SK hynix’s valuation will rise to the level of rival Micron.

Hanwha Investment & Securities said in a recent report, “SK hynix is no longer a company showing extreme earnings volatility but is transforming into one capable of consistently generating high levels of profit,” adding, “It is time for it to receive a fair valuation relative to global tech companies.”

Second in net buying was HD Hyundai Electric. HD Hyundai Electric traded at 1.002 million won as of 11 a.m., down 3.00% from the previous session. The buying by top investors is attributed to continued expectations of benefits from power grid investment and the expansion of AI data centers. Yuanta Securities forecast HD Hyundai Electric’s second-quarter operating profit at 298.1 billion won, up 42.5% from a year earlier. The firm assessed that the North American extra-high-voltage transformer order backlog, growing 765kV demand, and the effect of capacity expansion are improving earnings visibility.

Samsung Electronics ranked third. Samsung Electronics traded at 334,500 won at the same time, down 5.37%. This is interpreted as investors seizing the price correction as a buying opportunity and bargain hunting. Samsung Electronics, which had held the No. 1 spot in market capitalization on the domestic stock market (based on common shares) for 26 years, ceded the throne to SK hynix the previous day. With both SK hynix and Samsung Electronics falling together on the day, the market cap rankings remained unchanged.

Although share prices are falling, the positive outlook for the semiconductor rally continues. DS Investment & Securities recently raised its target price for Samsung Electronics to 530,000 won, citing the potential for earnings improvement on the back of strong memory market conditions and strengthened foundry competitiveness.

Lee Su-rim, a researcher at DS Investment & Securities, noted, “DRAM and NAND flash average selling prices (ASP) will rise 45% and 60%, respectively, driving an earnings improvement,” adding, “Considering shareholder returns and full-stack semiconductor manufacturing capabilities together with this, a further re-rating of corporate value is possible.”

The most heavily net-sold stocks on the day were KB Financial Group (105560), SK, SK Square (402340), and Doosan Enerbility (034020). On the previous session, net buying was highest for Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150), SK Square, Hyundai Motor, and Hyundai Mobis (012330), in that order, while the most heavily net-sold were SK hynix, Spear (347700), Samsung Electronics preferred shares (005935), and DB HiTek (000990).

Mirae Asset Securities compiles the trades of investors ranking in the top 1% of returns over the past month among its clients and discloses them on its mobile trading system (MTS) on a real-time, previous-day, and recent five-day basis.
