{"id":66967,"date":"2026-06-27T22:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T22:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/66967\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T22:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T22:55:11","slug":"yang-mings-lng-powered-vessel-named-in-south-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/66967\/","title":{"rendered":"Yang Ming\u2019s LNG-powered vessel named in South Korea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Korea\u2019s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held a naming ceremony on Friday for Yang Ming Marine Transport\u2019s LNG dual-fuel container vessel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yang Ming said the ship YM Wayfinder is the third vessel in its series of 15,500-teu class LNG dual-fuel container vessels built by HD HHI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YM Wayfinder is scheduled to commence service on the Asia-North Europe FE3 service on July 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This series of vessels built by HD HHI has a length overall of 364.97 meters, a breadth of 51 meters, and a capacity of approximately 15,600 teu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this year, Yang Ming <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/yang-mings-lng-powered-duo-named-in-south-korea\/177009\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">named <\/a>YM Willpower and YM Worthiness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yang Ming said the two ships are already in service and primarily operate on LNG. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To date, the two vessels have bunkered more than 11,158 metric tons of LNG, which is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 12,532 metric tons, according to the firm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May 2023, Yang Ming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/yang-ming-inks-deal-with-hyundai-heavy-for-five-lng-powered-containerships\/82870\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a>\u00a0a shipbuilding deal with HD Hyundai Heavy for the construction of five LNG-powered containerships with a capacity of 15,500 teu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yang Ming will pay about $937 million for the five vessels, or $187 million per ship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, South Korea\u2019s Hanwha Ocean also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/hanwha-ocean-bags-1-39-billion-order-for-yang-mings-lng-powered-vessels\/163580\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">secured\u00a0<\/a>an order worth about $1.39 billion for Yang Ming\u2019s LNG dual-fuel container vessels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The order includes seven 15,880-teu LNG dual-fuel container ships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Yang Ming <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/asia\/yang-ming-to-order-more-lng-powered-vessels\/180237\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">decided <\/a>in March this year to order more LNG dual-fuel container vessels as part of its ongoing fleet optimization plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"South Korea\u2019s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held a naming ceremony on Friday for Yang Ming Marine Transport\u2019s LNG&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":66968,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[716,295,1659,36264],"class_list":["post-66967","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hd-hyundai-heavy","tag-hd-hyundai-heavy","tag-hyundai","tag-hyundai-heavy-industries","tag-yang-ming"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/66967","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=66967"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/66967\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/66968"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=66967"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=66967"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=66967"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
