In a notice published on its official website, the company said after-sales services would continue as normal, adding that the move was made \u201cin response to rapidly changing market conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The company said its smartphone products would remain on sale in China, though the world\u2019s leading handset maker <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/tech\/tech-trends\/article\/3334851\/samsung-unveils-first-multi-folding-phone-competition-set-heat?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">is struggling to compete<\/a> with a string of local rivals and Apple in the market. Samsung\u2019s smartphone market share in China has fallen from nearly 20 per cent in the early 2010s to less than 1 per cent today, according to IDC data.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Samsung\u2019s withdrawal from a market where the firm has long faced pressure from lower-cost and increasingly sophisticated Chinese brands comes as the group continues a broader strategic shift towards its more lucrative semiconductor business.<\/p>\n<p>The company has seen its earnings soar in recent months amid the <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/business\/china-business\/article\/3352551\/asian-stocks-climb-strong-tech-momentum-and-trumps-fresh-iran-talks-signal?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">global artificial intelligence boom<\/a>, which is driving up demand for memory products.
