{"id":70843,"date":"2026-07-01T10:24:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T10:24:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/70843\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T10:24:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T10:24:51","slug":"indra-hanwha-to-manufacture-self-propelled-artillery-for-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/70843\/","title":{"rendered":"Indra, Hanwha to Manufacture Self-Propelled Artillery for Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Madrid-based Indra Group and Hanwha Aerospace in South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint development of self-propelled artillery systems for the Spanish Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deal centers on building a new family of tracked artillery platforms based on Hanwha\u2019s proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/05\/16\/s-korea-eyes-upgrades-to-k9-howitzers-rocket-launchers-and-missiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">K9 Thunder 155-millimeter howitzer<\/a>, with technology transfer enabling local design and production to expand the NATO country\u2019s domestic defense manufacturing capabilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain\u2019s current artillery adoption plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/07\/15\/spain-self-propelled-howitzers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">disclosed in July 2025<\/a>, involves 128 tracked vehicles, 120 ammunition resupply systems, 11 command and control units, and 21 recovery vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Real Sovereignty\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the binding agreement, Indra will manufacture vehicle hulls domestically and integrate its own systems, including mission control, 360-degree situational awareness, battlefield management, and communications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The firm will also design command post systems with integrated protection features.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resulting systems from the collaboration are expected to feature high automation, long-range precision fire, and reduced crew requirements, delivering \u201creliable, future-oriented solutions\u201d for the Spanish military.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe alliance between two major global defence leaders \u2026 enables us to offer the Spanish Armed Forces real sovereignty and autonomy throughout the life cycle of a new family of land platforms that did not exist until now,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indragroup.com\/en\/news\/indra-group-and-hanwha-group-sign-a-binding-agreement-for-the-development-of-innovative-self-propelled-artillery-systems\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> \u00c1ngel Escribano, chairman of Indra Group.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting Economic Growth<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, the partnership includes a 130-million-euro ($150.7 million) investment to expand the company\u2019s industrial capacity, including upgrades to its Gij\u00f3n facility in northern Spain and the opening of a new integration plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overall program is expected to create 500 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs, the corporation said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIndra, in its role as a driving force of the Spanish economy, is committed to the objective of positioning Spanish industry at the highest level\u2026while leading \u2014 together with our partners \u2014 the major European defence programs now being launched,\u201d Indra CEO Jos\u00e9 Vicente de los Mozos stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
