{"id":76089,"date":"2026-07-06T10:57:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T10:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/76089\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T10:57:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T10:57:08","slug":"south-korean-ultra-large-cable-laying-vessel-enters-construction-in-turkiye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/76089\/","title":{"rendered":"South Korean ultra-large cable laying vessel enters construction in T\u00fcrkiye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Tersan Shipyard has begun the construction of an ultra-large cable-laying vessel (CLV) for South Korean subsea cable installation company LS Marine Solution.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/South-Korean-cable-laying-vessel-enters-construction-in-Turkiye-768x432.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large\" alt=\"\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Source: LS Cable &amp; System via LinkedIn<\/p>\n<p>LS Marine Solution\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/south-koreas-first-specialized-hvdc-installation-vessel-to-be-built-by-turkish-shipyard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">signed a contract<\/a>\u00a0with Tersan Shipyard\u00a0for the construction of the vessel in June 2025, representing an investment of approximately \u20ac221 million.<\/p>\n<p>The CLV, designed by Norwegian Salt Ship Design, will be 148.4 meters long and 31 meters wide, and will have a load capacity of 13,000 tons and a total displacement of 18,800 tons.<\/p>\n<p>Capable of simultaneously laying HVDC submarine cables and fiber optic cables, the CLV will be one of the world\u2019s top five in terms of cable loading capacity and the largest in Asia, as well as Korea\u2019s only specialized HVDC installation vessel, according to LS Marine Solution.<\/p>\n<p>The steel-cutting ceremony took place today, July 6, with delivery expected in the first half of 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Norway\u2019s Kongsberg Maritime is delivering an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/kongsberg-maritime-equipment-ordered-for-south-korean-cable-laying-vessel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">integrated technology package<\/a> for the vessel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis expansion directly aligns with the 2028 commercial production of LS GreenLink, our U.S.-based submarine cable manufacturing subsidiary.
