The plant is scheduled for completion at the end of next year, and under a power purchase agreement (PPA) between the developer and Meta, the electricity produced at the plant after completion will be used by Meta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">The plant will be built on a site that was formerly a coal mining area. The project&#8217;s name, &#8220;Reclamation,&#8221; reflects the idea of restoring a past industrial site whose development and use had ended, converting it into a hub for eco-friendly energy production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">To meet the electricity demand that has surged recently with the spread of data centers and artificial intelligence (AI), big tech companies are actively working to secure renewable energy such as solar power. According to BloombergNEF, four big tech companies \u2014 Meta, Amazon, Google and Microsoft \u2014 accounted for about 49% of global corporate renewable energy purchases as of last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-[var(--color-text)] leading-relaxed\">Hanwha Qcells last month completed &#8220;Solar Hub,&#8221; North America&#8217;s largest integrated solar manufacturing base, in Georgia, and has since begun full-scale operation of its entire value chain.
