A new report from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hankyung.com\/article\/202607096332i\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Korea Economic Daily<\/a> says Samsung\u2019s System LSI division is developing a dedicated AI accelerator for PCs called Gaia. The company has reportedly supplied early samples to Lenovo and HP for performance testing, with mass production potentially beginning as early as 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Prominent Samsung leaker Ice Universe described the project as the company\u2019s return to the PC processor market after roughly 13 years. However, the details point toward something slightly different from a traditional laptop processor. Gaia might be a specialized companion chip designed to handle artificial intelligence workloads rather than a complete replacement for an Intel, AMD, or Qualcomm CPU.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING\uff01<br \/>Samsung Electronics is preparing to re-enter the PC battlefield with a brand-new approach. According to a report by the South Korean news outlet News1, Samsung\u2019s System LSI Business is independently developing a new System-on-Chip (SoC) codenamed \u201cGaia.\u201d Primarily\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/UniverseIce\/status\/2075180623384477796?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">July 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gaia would sit beside your PC\u2019s main processor<\/p>\n<p>Samsung will reportedly manufacture Gaia using a 4-nanometer process. Its architecture centers on an optimized neural processing unit, or NPU, capable of accelerating generative AI and other on-device workloads without having to constantly rely on cloud servers. The company is also exploring integration with processing-in-memory technology.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1200\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/korea\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Samsung-Exynos-chip-illustration.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Exynos chip illustration.\" class=\"wp-image-5936797\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/semiconductor.samsung.com\/processor\/mobile-processor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noskim noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Samsung<\/a><\/p>\n<p>PIM basically enables certain calculations to happen directly inside memory, reducing the amount of data shuffled between the processor and RAM. So Samsung could potentially pair Gaia with its own memory products, giving it greater control over several important parts of the AI computing pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of major details remain unknown. The report does not reveal Gaia\u2019s AI performance, power consumption, or any other key information. Meaning, we can\u2019t exactly compare it to Qualcomm\u2019s Snapdragon X2 processors or Nvidia\u2019s far more powerful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/i-saw-nvidia-rtx-spark-in-action-and-windows-pcs-may-finally-have-their-apple-silicon-moment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RTX Spark <\/a>platform. The company had its Exynos 5 chips power some Chromebooks in the early 2010s. <\/p>\n<p>Today, Samsung\u2019s Galaxy Book laptops largely rely on processors from Intel and Qualcomm. The recently announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/samsungs-new-snapdragon-powered-galaxy-book-isnt-the-macbook-neo-rival-i-was-hoping-for\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy Book6 Edge<\/a>, for example, uses Qualcomm\u2019s Snapdragon X2 Elite.
