KakaoBank

Kakao Bank (323410) plans to complete an equity investment in Mongolian digital bank M Bank within this year.

Kakao Bank said on the 10th that it had signed a term sheet with MCS Group, Mongolia’s largest business conglomerate, for a strategic equity investment in M Bank. The company plans to finalize the equity investment within the year after completing follow-up procedures such as a final contract.

The term sheet was reached on the occasion of Kakao Bank CEO Yun Ho-young attending the “Korea-Mongolia Business Forum” held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, as a member of the Korean presidential economic delegation. At the forum, Yun introduced Kakao Bank’s cases of digital financial innovation under the theme “Beyond Banking, Into Every Life” and presented a vision for artificial intelligence (AI)-based finance.

Alongside the equity investment in M Bank, Kakao Bank will also expand digital finance cooperation. It will upgrade M Bank’s credit evaluation system using its own credit scoring technology and AI capabilities. The bank also plans to expand the scope of cooperation to include product and service development and the establishment of a global digital bank network.

“Kakao Bank has practiced technology-based inclusive finance, providing a cumulative 16 trillion won in loans to mid- and low-credit borrowers using its own alternative credit scoring model,” Yun said. “In Mongolia, which has a young population and digital infrastructure, we will cooperate with MCS Group to upgrade M Bank’s credit evaluation system and contribute to building an AI finance ecosystem.”

Yun Ho-young (second from left), CEO of KakaoBank, poses for a photo after signing a term sheet for…

[622
43662,43663,10894,4670,827,13247,43659,43660,43661
post-81533","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-kakao","tag-ai-finance","tag-credit-scoring","tag-equity-investment","tag-inclusive-finance","tag-kakao","tag-kakao-bank","tag-m-bank","tag-mcs-group","tag-mongolia-digital-banking
["GET
