GS E&C is partnering with LG Electronics to develop a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) residential system that integrates home appliances, the Internet of Things (IoT), apartment complex facilities, and robot services into one.<\/p>\n

GS E&C said on the 13th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG Electronics on the 10th for the joint development of a “next-generation AI home.” Huh Yoon-hong, CEO of GS E&C, and Ryu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics, attended the signing ceremony held at GS E&C’s headquarters.<\/p>\n

The agreement marks the two companies’ second collaboration to develop future residential services. The two companies will jointly develop an AI home system exclusively for multi-unit housing that combines the complex infrastructure of Xi apartments with LG Electronics’ AI home solutions, and plan to introduce it in phases at Xi apartments going forward. Previously, in April, the two companies signed an MOU to “build a future-oriented residential robot service model.”<\/p>\n

The next-generation AI home the two companies are developing aims to create an integrated living environment that goes beyond simple device connectivity, in which AI itself understands residents’ living patterns and residential environment and proposes or automatically executes necessary functions. The plan is to link the household and complex infrastructure of Xi apartments with LG Electronics’ “LG ThinQ” AI platform, connecting built-in devices within households, complex common areas, and external living services into one.<\/p>\n

Through this, residents will be able to use services linked to complex infrastructure within a single system, including not only in-household controls such as lighting, heating, ventilation, and gas valves, but also elevator calls, parking location checks, visit history checks, and community facility reservations. By having AI converse with users to understand and act on their living context, the system will provide an environment in which a customized space is maintained without residents having to give it any thought.<\/p>\n

In addition, the two companies plan to expand cooperation toward organically combining a robot ecosystem, including LG Electronics’ home robot “LG CLOi,” and AI home solutions with the infrastructure of Xi apartment complexes.<\/p>\n
