This milestone results from expanding the service to 37 countries while significantly strengthening region-specific, customized content.

LG Electronics announced on the 14th that it officially launched the LG Channels service in Poland. This expands the number of European countries served by LG Channels to 17, bringing the total number of global operating countries to 37. As Poland is the fifth most populous country in Europe with a rapidly growing smart TV market, LG Electronics’ strategy is to use this entry as a bridgehead for targeting the Central and Eastern European market.

LG Channels is a core content service of LG Electronics’ proprietary smart TV platform, webOS. Since its debut in 2015, the number of TVs equipped with webOS worldwide has reached 270 million units. Leveraging this massive installed base, LG Channels is expanding its influence by offering free content tailored to the tastes of each country and region.

In the Polish market, the service will prominently feature K-content specialty channels alongside global news and sports channels. LG Electronics plans to continuously expand local channels tailored to the preferences of local viewers in collaboration with New ID, a global FAST solution company.

The region-specific content strategy is also prominent in other markets. In Brazil, sports channels account for over 10% of the lineup, reflecting the high local interest in sports like soccer. The company is taking a differentiated approach tailored to each country’s characteristics, such as focusing on Bollywood content in India and popular dramas in Taiwan.

The service is also continuously evolving in terms of user convenience. Alongside software advancements, LG Electronics is enhancing AI-based personalization services to improve the accuracy of customized content recommendations for each viewer. These technological achievements were recently recognized externally, winning the “New Tech” award at the “2026 Global OTT Awards.”

The user base and viewing time are also showing steep growth. In 2025, LG Channels’ global average monthly viewership increased by 30% compared to 2024, while the annual cumulative viewing time of global viewers rose by more than 45% during the same period. This is an indicator that actual content consumption is significantly increasing beyond simple user growth.

Cho Byung-ha, Vice President and head of LG Electronics’ webOS Platform Business Center, stated, “We will continue to strengthen content competitiveness and expand the global ecosystem so that LG Channels can be enjoyed around the world, not only in North America and Europe but also in the Global South.”

LG Electronics’ ad-supported free streaming TV (FAST) service, “LG Channels,” has surpassed 5,000 global channels.
