With expectations for large-scale order contracts already priced in, instability in the Middle East makes it harder to resume detailed discussions on such contracts. Hanwha Aerospace plunged more than 6% the previous day, falling to the 800,000 won range for the first time in about eight months.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 15th, Hanwha Aerospace closed the regular session at 872,000 won, down 64,000 won, or 6.84%, from the previous trading day. After falling as low as 863,000 won during the session, it was the first time the stock had dropped to the 800,000 won range since December 26, 2025. The stock, which had consistently traded above 1 million won, entered a downtrend following an explosion accident at its Daejeon plant in June this year.

Not only Hanwha Aerospace but most defense stocks were weak. LIG Defense & Aerospace closed at 669,000 won, down 7.72% from the previous session. In addition, Hanwha Systems (-3.31%), Hyundai Rotem (-2.06%), and Korea Aerospace Industries (-1.81%) all widened their declines.

The simultaneous fall in defense stocks is observed to be closely linked to the flaring conflict between the United States and Iran. U.S. President Trump announced he would impose a 20% charge on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz, and subsequently formally notified the U.S. Congress of the resumption of military action against Iran. The ongoing situation of Iran’s attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. airstrikes is likely to act as a factor dampening expectations for defense orders.

Given the recent excessive declines, the view that bargain-hunting demand could flow in is gaining traction, but a diagnosis has emerged that large-scale contract announcements capable of easing geopolitical concerns are ultimately required. Recently, Hanwha Aerospace is reported to have proposed the wheeled model of its K9 self-propelled howitzer, the “K9MH,” to the U.S. Army through its U.S. subsidiary Hanwha Defense USA. Hyundai Rotem’s K2 tanks for export and K808 wheeled armored vehicles are also known to have completed export delivery at the request of the Peruvian government.

This Director, That Stock

Hanwha Aerospace’s K9 self-propelled howitzer Investor sentiment toward domestic defense stocks has struggled to recover amid escalating geopolitical…

[28
45800,355,277,354,5587,1062,27952,14212,116,9222
post-86282","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hanwha-aerospace","tag-defense-orders","tag-hanwha","tag-hanwha-aerospace","tag-hanwha-group","tag-hyundai-rotem","tag-k9-howitzer","tag-korean-defense-stocks","tag-middle-east-tensions","tag-strait-of-hormuz","tag-us-iran-conflict
["GET
