The technology replaces the plastic film — the layer beneath the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel that supports it — with a new titanium alloy material offering high rigidity and elasticity.

Flex Titanium can significantly improve durability, a particularly important performance factor given that foldable phones must be folded and unfolded frequently. The titanium alloy film boasts 20 times higher rigidity than the plastic film used in previous models. Through this, Samsung Electronics explained, the screen crease problem — a chronic weakness of foldable phones — can also be significantly improved.

Despite these advantages, titanium had been considered difficult to process into foldable phone displays. Samsung Electronics overcame the problem by developing an ultra-precision rolling process that can flatten the material to a thickness of about one-third the width of a human hair.

Samsung Electronics also applied a “titanium plate” beneath the titanium alloy film, which serves to support the display when folding or unfolding, further enhancing durability. In addition, the OLED panel improved image quality and power efficiency through material and design enhancements.

Samsung Electronics will hold “Galaxy Unpacked 2026” in London, England, on the 22nd local time, where it will unveil three new foldable phones: the two models applying Flex Titanium plus the standard model “Galaxy Z Flip 8.”

“Samsung’s competitiveness lies in the combination of a deep understanding of consumer needs and technology that delivers real value to daily life,” said Moon Sung-hoon, Vice President in charge of hardware at Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) Division. “The next-generation Galaxy foldable, newly created based on display technology know-how accumulated over many years, will provide an unprecedented viewing experience and completely innovate the user experience.”

Samsung Electronics’ new “Flex Titanium” display technology, set to debut in the “Galaxy Z Fold 8” and “Galaxy…

[18
45879,40043,40884,562,45880,127,276,45881
post-86516","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-samsung-electronics","tag-flex-titanium","tag-foldable-phone","tag-galaxy-unpacked-2026","tag-galaxy-z-fold-8","tag-oled-display","tag-samsung","tag-samsung-electronics","tag-titanium-alloy-film
["GET
