It was selected as the first investment project of the National Growth Fund and the first investment project of the Future Energy Fund. Major equipment, excluding turbines, is being procured mainly through the domestic supply chain, and the project successfully completed project financing (PF) based purely on domestic capital.

Through this, the project is expected to provide stable power supply to regional industrial complexes, revitalize the local economy and create jobs, as well as contribute to building the domestic offshore wind industry ecosystem and strengthening industrial competitiveness.

Through the project, an offshore wind farm with a total capacity of 390 megawatts (MW) will be built in the waters near Ui-do-ri, Docho-myeon, Shinan County, South Jeolla Province. Hanwha Ocean is pursuing construction with a target completion date of 2029. Korea Midland Power will operate the wind farm for 25 years after completion and handle power supply. Hyundai Engineering & Construction is participating in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

Hanwha Ocean is participating as the developer overseeing the entire business development process, including project discovery, permits and investment attraction, as well as the EPC lead contractor, leading the entire project. It is also building a next-generation wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) with an investment of approximately 800 billion won, which it plans to deploy in the Shinan Ui offshore wind power project going forward.

“The Shinan Ui offshore wind power project is an important project that enhances the competitiveness of Korea’s offshore wind industry based on domestic technology and supply chains,” a Hanwha Ocean official said. “We will contribute to building the domestic offshore wind industry ecosystem and to the energy transition, and continue to create new growth opportunities in the global offshore wind market.”

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment; Min Hyung-bae, Mayor of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City; Kim Tae-sung, Shinan County Governor; Lee Jae-gak, Jindo County Governor; along with officials from the Financial Services Commission, financial institutions, shareholder companies and other project stakeholders, who wished for the project’s successful implementation.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sinan Ui offshore wind power project on the 16th, key officials including…

[345
46499,3387,355,354,373,15637,12689,5825,46498,46500
post-88170","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hanwha-ocean","tag-390mw-wind-farm","tag-energy-transition","tag-hanwha","tag-hanwha-group","tag-hanwha-ocean","tag-hyundai-engineering-construction","tag-korea-midland-power","tag-offshore-wind-power","tag-shinan-ui-offshore-wind","tag-wtiv
["GET
